  1. On one hand you've got people saying that bikes are too fast for the tight tracks we have, but then you seem to have the most serious accidents occurring on the big wide tracks of Poland. Tracks now are probably safer than they've ever been in the UK at least. We used to have one ambulance at each meeting, no air fences, lamp posts right up by the track fence, and unforgiving solid (metal at Exeter!!) fences. It's a dangerous sport, which is probably why people enjoy it, and riders race it. Fans love fast, close racing and often bemoan when races are strung out and 'boring'. As unfortunate as any injury to a rider is, and even more so when it's life changing, I really don't think there's much more which could be done to reduce risks. There's neck braces, but it's down to the riders if they choose to wear them. How effective they'd be in crashes like Darcy Ward's I don't know. You can de-tune engines, but there'll always be riders looking for ways to get that bike to go just a little bit faster than their opponents - that's the nature of the sport. It's always more hard hitting when it's a top line rider who gets seriously injured, you think they're almost invincible, there is no reasoning, there is no solution. Unfortunately it just seems to be down to fate - wrong place, wrong time. Michael Schumacher's accident whilst sking is testament to that.
  2. Speedway riders are riding 500cc machines with no brakes in close proximity of each other, they know the risks and they accept them. There's been plenty of bad injuries or worse in the speedway in years gone by and unfortunately there'll be more in the future - it's the nature of the sport. One thing though, you rarely if ever hear a rider who has suffered a serious career ending or life changing injury blame the sport. Most of them would love nothing more than to swing their leg over a bike and do it all again.
  3. Seeing their opponents is all part of the concentration of the race, being aware and in control. In my opinion I think Tai's concentration wasn't fully on the race with KK. He wasn't fully focused but was more interested in gesticulating to him about being moved out wide than, than worrying where other riders were on track. Why not wait until the race had ended before you start remonstrating? The sport is dangerous enough as it is.
  4. But to me it shows that the riders full attention isn't on track, and more on the opponent they're gesturing at. Nothing wrong with a bit of handbags once the race has finished, But I do think that a riders concentration for the 60 second or so they're hurtling round the track should be fully on the race in hand, and not on what has happened during or before it.
  5. But then you look at the time span between Greg's first 2 titles, he's had the continuity of being a top class rider and regaining a title over a decade after he won his first. It's very hard to pick who's better than who. Generally there's always 3 or 4 riders who are dominant above all others over a period of time who are pretty evenly matched, it's not always down to who won more titles etc. as there's an element of luck in all title wins.
  6. Nope, British with a sprinkling of Irish & German. Have visited Denmark though
  7. Yep, nothing wrong with the move, KK lefft Woffy with plenty of room. It does seem that there's a growing trend of riders whinging about hard riding.
  8. Hopefully a few cracks appearing in Tai's armour. Time for Nikki to up the pressure.
  9. Could be.... I was thinking of tenuous links. Sidney - Disney - Looney Tunes
  10. Really? I've seen him pull moves like he did tonight for years. If it's not intentional maybe it's time he called it a day as he's obviously not fully in control of the bike.
  11. Oh dear, was last Friday on your Will Darcy Ward win a world title thread! Why are you bothering, cos' you can't help yourself. Haven't met you, don't really want to but get the impression you have little man syndrome!
  12. It was you threatening to give someone a DIG - idiot!!! Seriously, you give Starman a good run for his money, at least he's not offensive though.
  13. I didn't need to meet Gresham to know he was a dangerous on track and unliked off it. I watched him ride enough, and have read and heard enough from promoters, fans and riders to form that opinion. Swindon fans hated him before he rode for them, Reading fans hated him before during and after he rode for them. In any case, my comments about Gresham are not f.... horrible. And your record on here is abysmal! I see only in the past week you made the comment " i met you believe me i would love to give you a dig" and constantly write derogatory comments towards anyone who doesn't share your opinion. So much for turning over a new leaf!!
  14. Can't imagine the Bees team spirit is great tonight with Andersen trying to wipe out anyone he was on track with - and people call Nicki Pedersen dangerous!!
  15. I get the impression Jacques can look after herself, but "F..... horrible". that's a bit rich considering your record on BSF, I would imagine if they made sense the majority of your posts are f...... horrible!
  16. That's your opinion as a Swindon fan. Others may have seen him as a dangerous lunatic who wasn't very well liked by other riders all through his career. Different strokes 'n all that.
  17. So you don't like Nicki Pedersen Sid, and think he's got away with murder with his racing. Bet you used to cheer on Steve Gresham though who was far worse! What was Gresham's nickname again? Steve the heave wasn't it???
  18. Errr... he is the current Team GB manager I must have missed Nicki's participation in this meeting. Or are you just taking a swipe? Never mind, the pressure tactics other riders are showing towards Pedersen at the moment will soon be yesterday's news. Hope Darcy doesn't celebrate his max too hard tonight.
  19. Cheating Swindle, if you can't beat 'em, wipe 'em out. Didn't deserve a point out of this meeting.
  20. Think some people will never be pleased and just look for reasons to slag off a meeting. Personally really enjoyed the GP apart from the injustice of the overall winner
  21. Looking at the top 8 in the GP as it stands now, who outside of it really deserves another chance with a Wildcard next year? Hampel, the one personally I feel deserves a wildcard. I get the impression that Hancock may retire, from the GP's at least, at the end of this season, that would open up the No.9 place which if it goes to Jonsson negates the need for a wildcard to be wasted on a token Swede. As much as I don't like Ward as a person, looking at the bottom half of this years GP field, I would suggest that the series needs him, and at least one other big hitter next season.
  22. Sky are many things, but clairvoyant isn't one of them. To be fair on recent form, the meeting didn't look like it was going to be a close or exciting one. I think being shown up by Lindgren 3 times in 1 meeting is punishment enough really
