  1. Well that was a bit of a dull afternoon out. I thought there would be a bit more atmosphere about the place today with it being the last meeting at the Abbey. Swindon fans even found it hard to muster up a boo for Bratchelor. Great to see the youngster's getting a go on the mini track, and Ermolenko's new engines being tried out in 3 races after the main event. Riders didn't seem to have any problems with them, and they weren't that much slower than the normal bikes, quieter too which may be a positive if the sport goes forward. Really hope the Robins do get their new track, but it seems a big ask and very little was said today about the new stadium etc.
  2. 7 would probably still be a bargain based on his performance last night
  3. His performance was even more impressive if he was riding borrowed machinery!
  4. Dudek has got to be a cert for a 2016 Poole place after seeing him fly around Wimborne Road last night.
  5. Cheating is way OTT - he contravened a rule whilst trying to do the best for his club. I guess he'd had preferred to have ridden with goggles for that race, but in the heat of the moment and to avoid letting his club down lined up without them. Out of interest, you do see riders taking goggles off mid-race, especially in tough conditions. Why has this never been picked up as contravening regulations or cheating as you like to put it before?
  6. It was Tim Sugar who put the appeal in about Peter Ravn not being listed in the BV programme, I heard he'd been on holiday in Poole & Matt had trimmed his beard a couple of months before said meeting.
  7. Take the two points off Newman's score on Monday, but also then take the 3 extra points Zagar was awarded for his GD ride, these joker rules have no place in league title deciders. Outcome, Poole won fairly & squarely by 1.
  8. Whatever the rights & wrongs of gogglegate, both legs made that a fantastic final which was a credit to both teams and both sets of fans.
  9. Congratulations Poole on your 2 point overall aggregate win
  10. Swindon held a Reading/Oxford 3TT a couple of seasons back - not the same though, even with Matej in his old Racers kevlars. Probably not enough riders still actively racing who had association with the Racers or Cheetahs to put a team together for each now But this is Swindon's last meeting at the Abbey, and should be fully focused on the history of the club whilst it raced there. We had our end of era meeting and it was all about Reading, wouldn't of seemed right any other way.
  11. I'm sure there'll be a few from Reading coming along too Buzz, had many a good night (and quite a few bad ones) at Blunsdump over the years. Hard to believe the Racers final meeting was 7 years ago now! Was horrible walking out of the stadium for the last time that night. Hopefully there's a better outcome for the soon to be Swindon Cheetahs
  12. That really is still penalising BV and needs looking at. Heat 12 wouldn't have allowed Poole to bring in a reserve replacement for Newman had he been excluded under 2 minutes. He could have gone off 15M, but it's unlikely he'd have scored. Fairest result would be to make the heat completely null & void & remove the 5 points from Poole and the 1 from BV's total score.
  13. 48-44 it is then! The rules were clearly broken and race points should be adjusted accordingly. Ref should ask get a slap on the wrist. I very much doubt it was the lure of a few quid that made Newman race without his goggles. More likely keen to score a few points for his team in one of the most important meetings of their season.
  14. Even Smallmead with it's non-permanent buildings took longer than 4-5 months to build too!
  15. Despite doing all they could to throw the tie away in the first two thirds of the meeting, BV came back strong and must have surprised Poole. Credit to Mark Lemon as a team manager to get his club back into it. Anything could happen Wednesday!
  16. After the first few heats, I expect the hats/scarfs got stuffed in their pockets and they were trying to be as inconspicuous as possible.
  17. Funny lot aren't they, those speedway star sellers. I do remember the deaf/mute man who used to come to Smallmead when Swindon were there selling pens & other bits & bobs. Was he a Swindon fan, or was it just coincidence he'd there when the Robins were visitors?
