  1. If that's the case he should have stayed in the back ground when Peterborough won the title & not prance around on live TV. Outside looking in you have club officials celebrating with more than one club, if that's not bad enough these clubs are supposed to be arch local rivals. Then you have riders appearing for multiple clubs as guests during the season no wonder no one takes it as serious sport.
  2. I take my hat off to Ipswich, they are by far the most professional run club in the UK. On the ball with social media embracing it & using it to their advantage. The website is also one of if not the best out there. If only Louis & Guy could take over UK speedway we might have a chance. A couple of great signings there too, when Riss is fit certainly give Louis & Hawkins a headache.
  3. True but is that point towards the end of the season when any chance of the play offs have gone?
  4. He's attached to Ipswich so it makes perfect speedway sense that he guested for Ipswich tonight!
  5. Oh dear another safety fence problem at Sheffield that the track staff can't fix, not the first time
  6. It's a typical grey speedway rule. States the % of premiership matches that are completed before changes can be made but makes no reference to if window closes before the season starts or after the league cup group meetings have been completed. Bend the rule to fit your own agenda, like Belle Vue with Zager! Although you could argue Lynn have done the same with Iversen sign a rider and keep him even when you know you can't use him because of the regulations, then when you can't sign anyone else have a facility granted. Welcome to speedway you couldn't make it up!
  7. The BSPA had the very large chunk of Dosh, during the early sky years...... sadly no vision. The sport just makes me so cross should be one of the best sports out there.
  8. With proper management, a proper plan for the future & a product that is decent enough to be sold to those outside of speedway maybe the sport could have a future maybe even a bright one. Shouldn't make an comparison's to any other sport but all you need to do is look at the ladies euros to see what can happen with some vision.
  9. It would be much easier if C Harris changed his name to A Guest
  10. Just goes to show the issues around the sport. I was recently reading a post on the Ipswich speedway memories Facebook page. In there was a newspaper cutting & part of the reason for Chris shears being booted out of Foxhall was for breaking the contract where he had to stage a minimum of 30 meetings he managed 28. Today this lot struggle to fit in less than 20.
  11. It the problem when you have a busy fixture list with no free weeks in the height of summer!
  12. I agree with everything you have said. Unfortunately it shows the main issue Swindon or anywhere else faces in the face of housing development. The fanbase & the support levels are just too small is just to small to provide any opposition. I remember in the mid nineties when Ipswich nearly went of of business. The local MP got involved there were large protests in the centre of town the management & riders we're in the centre of town fund raising. All that sparked huge local media coverage & £100k was raised in next to no time ensuring that the speedway could continue. If something similar happened today I'm not sure the out come would be the same. Sad times but the price of being a minority sport with an ever decreasing fan base.
  13. Makes no difference if he is Tory or not all politicians are just out for themselves and their mates anyway.
  14. Chin up guys enjoy your speedway while you still have it, finishing bottom is better than having no team.
  15. Couldn't Peterborough try and push the regulations in the interest of speedway & have Chris Harris guest for Hans Andersen? I'm sure that would work.
  16. What a result, Doyle leading from the front King back on song Batch seems to have found consistently & they are all working as a team. I was one who had grave concerns about building a team so far under the points limit. However as the riders have got into the grove I think it's shown have a group who wants to pull together & actually ride for Ipswich is as we speak paying dividends.
  17. In many ways it is a ridiculous sport, however naming an old style number 8 when using RR isn't. It's something that should happen. On another note looking at some old photos of Ipswich circa 1990 they had a squad of 11 riders & no doubling up. Speedway the only sport to have spent 30 years in reverse!
  18. Didn't they have to re declare their line once it was found using Knudsen was illegal? What a shambles!
  19. One thing I have never understood about king's Lynn is it's a great race track fairly well supported but they also have more wooden spoons than Delia Smith.
  20. But to half the clubs that were in existence when I started attending in 89 and those in attendance at the remaining venues has at least halved since then. The race to the bottom continues apace!
  21. I'm not sure it's just a case of the premiership. 16 'professional' tracks in the UK and not enough riders to fill those without doubling up & guests. I haven't looked to see how many riders double up frankly I have better things to do, however I would suggest if doubling up was taken away you might have enough riders to fill 6 teams? Radical overall required as has been the case for probably the last 20-30 years .
