Ipswich Witches 2026
cowboy cookie returns? replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It’s interesting. If anyone takes Ipswich over they will need at least 1 if not 2 to replace Emil & Jason. But then I can’t think of anyone else who would be interested in the UK -

If we are going to run surely there needs to be an announcement before Christmas of a buyer -

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

If Ipswich don’t come to the tapes in 2026 it will be my first year since 1989 not attending any live speedway. Yes I fell out of love with it in 2009 & only attending a handful of meetings between 2009 & 2017. I got back in to it as a semi regular in 2018 & ever present since 2022. Even though I’ll miss it, it appears Louis has done the right thing looking to get out. The whole thing is a shambles. -

Dispute comfortably having the highest capacity for a uk speedway stadium & plenty of space to make it a festival feel, I can’t ever see that happening. -

It’s the same company that leases Foxhall stadium off the owners. You only have to look at the work done on the heath to see that Spedeworth under Dean Wood is a decent promotion to do business with. It does show the major issues the sport has when for years a speedway stadium Eastbourne won’t allow speedway to be ran there even the the owners are a speedway family. Couple that with Louis a guy who bleeds speedway getting out tells you all you need to know. -

Hot off the press. A new premiership club is opening in the Portsmouth area. The Redknapp ‘bet victor’ Barons will take to the track in May 2026 -

The asset system only applies while they are under contract to a club once that expires they are free agents. Given riders in 99% of cases only sign 1 season contracts meaning that they become free agents from Nov 1st each year. Therefore are not ‘assets’ of any club. -

The way he went about his business in Birmingham. Top hats Del boys three wheeled van for announcing signs all very amateurish!! Light years behind what the sponsors & fans expect. -

I wouldn’t have thought Chris would put any stipulations in place as part of the sale. The buyer would have be left free to judge what works best for their business plan. Could be totally different to CL’s -

The rumour a couple of months ago was that Louis would be involved at Northampton. Personally I can’t see it happening now as he has put Ipswich up for sale as things in British speedway no longer align for him. Also going from a stable club to one that could be a money pit isn’t the sort of thing I can see Chris gambling on. -

To be honest, it would be a sad day if I lose my team. However looking at the future I just can’t see any sort of future for league speedway in this country. As hard as it is it might be better to go out on a high. -

Louis delayed his radio interview until Monday now. I wonder what he’ll have to say & what the reasons could be for delaying again. -

If you see del boys 3 Wheeler anywhere near Foxhall you know that instead of an ultra professional approach at Foxhall we’ll have an eccentric guy with a comedy top hat. Too be honest I don’t there is anyway Louis would sell up to top hat trolley! -

If Ipswich does run in 2026 god knows what the team will be. Looks very much like 1 league at the moment. We all ready know we’ll have no Emil. Doyle I don’t think will be in a 1 league set up. Thompson & King already signed elsewhere. I guess maybe Brennan, Rew & Ellis as a top 3. If by some miracle the premiership carries on & Ipswich run are we looking at Doyle,Brennan,Rew,Ellis,King,Jenkins & Edward’s? -
