  1. Taken from the Speedway Riders Index 1929-2022: George Edward WIGFIELD Born: 28 November 1906, Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire, England. Died: 1990. Career record: (1929) Sheffield; (1930) Nottingham; (1931) Nottingham, Sheffield.
  2. At the moment you can order the Championship Pairs/CLRC programme from the printers (2025 Championship Pairs / Championship League Riders' Championship 2-IN-1 - Apr '25) for £5 plus £2.75 P&P from the printers
  3. It's common knowledge that at times Craig struggles with his mental health. If he's not in a good place at this moment in time, then he's done the right thing in not riding. Let's hope he's getting the help he needs and we see him back riding soon.
  4. According to the Poole web site, Richard Lawson 'requested to sit out the pairs'
  5. Hi, I have looked at the Speedway Riders Index (1929-2022), which lists every rider that has ridden for a British team in an official league or cup meeting and unfortunately there is no record of your dad contained in the index. It may be that he raced in the second half individual scratch races rather than in the main meeting but that would be difficult to prove without having access to the programmes from any meetings your dad may have ridden in. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck with your search.
  6. Starting Order: 1. Leigh Lanham, 2. Peter Carr, 3. Glenn Cunningham, 4. Paul Pickering, 5. Frank Smart, 6. Lee Richardson, 7. Mick Powell, 8. Craig Watson, 9. David Walsh, 10. Martin Dixon, 11. Carl Stonehewer, 12. Paul Bentley, 13. Scott Smith, 14. Steve Masters, 15. Paul Thorp, 16. Nicki Pedersen, 17. D. Keats
  7. These are the entries in the Speedway Riders Index (1929-2022) for 3 of the people you name: Billy Sven FORSBERG Born: 13 May 1988, Norrkoping, Sweden. Career record: (2007-09) Belle Vue. Grandson of Dan Forsberg. Birger FORSBERG Born: 25 September 1930, Skelleftea, Sweden. Career record: (1957) Rayleigh; (1958-59) Poole; (1960) Ipswich. International honours: Swedish international (19 caps). Dan FORSBERG Born: 25 March 1934, Vaageryd, Sweden. Career record: (1952-53) Birmingham; (1957) Birmingham. Individual honours: World Final, 1952 (6th), 1957 (15th). International honours: Swedish international (17 caps). Grandfather of Billy Forsberg. There is no entry in the index for Roger Forsberg
  8. If anyone wants the programme from the first Internationale meeting at Harringay, it's available on eBay
  9. Taken from the Speedway Riders Index 1929-2022: Jamie WESTACOTT Born: 9 April 1988, Newport, Gwent, Wales. Career record: (2003) Newport II; (2004-05) Newport II, Reading; (2006) Plymouth; (2007) Plymouth, Weymouth.
  10. According to the Speedway Researcher web site, Portsmouth mainly ran open meetings in 1929 & 1930 but they did have a team which raced in challenge matches home and away in 1930 but they weren't part of a League
  11. According to the SGB Championship 2025 - Confirmed Signings post: Workington Comets 1 - 2 - Fraser Bowes (5.00) 3 - Jye Etheridge (4.98) 4 - Antti Vuolas (6.40) 5 - Tate Zischke (6.96) 6 - Vinnie Foord (3.90) 7 - Total Average: 27.24 so 12.76 left for the last two riders
  12. Workington is in WEST Cumbria. I think you mean South West.
  13. Workington's 2024 Track Review is in this week's Speedway Star along with an interview with Craig Cook about the night in 2017 when he became British Champion
  14. There was an article on the British Speedway web site on 4th November telling people how to vote and who was short listed in each category. You could only vote via Social Media (Facebook, X or Instagram). The results were then announced on 8th November.
  15. There will be programmes for sale on eBay of meetings your dad rode in. If you can find the meetings where he scored well, they may be nice souvenirs for your dad to have. Likewise there could be speedway magazines from the 80s where your dad was featured in them but finding them could be more of a challenge.
