In years gone by a rider could own his own registration (John Davis owned his own I believe), but now the registration must be owned by a club/promoter.

Gp Wtc & League Rules Queries
Pirate Nick replied to daveallan81's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
1: No 2: Yes 3: Not known as the National League are yet to have their AGM. Hope this helps -
Or because they wanted to use PUK but he'd already done a deal with Kings Lynn? Who hadn't had permission to approach him? Just a thought

Point was the first example of the rule shows a pole potentially replaced by an Australian and not a Brit
-
I'm sure most tracks have had their fair share of money grabbing riders and not just Poles. One visiting promoter told me That, after last years points reducing and therefore supposed cost cutting measures voted in at the 2011 AGM,I wouldn't believe what he was having to pay a 5 pt rider who were in great demand last year. However that wasn't the point of my post as you probably know;-)

See it's working already, a Pole out and a gap appears for new young British talent.............oh hang on

Somerset Vs Workington Pl 14/09
Pirate Nick replied to RebelRebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Try here: http://speedwayupdat...ay&thread=11691 the texter was Statman who is very accurate. -
On a much reduced average due to his lack of recent EL experience. About 6 would be fair I think. :-)

Bear in mind when he rode for us he had a dicky shoulder, this has now been fixed and I for one would welcome Jason back to Poole. I don't know about Swindon but I saw him ride regularly at Somerset and the guy is a great team bloke and always gave 100% for the Rebels. He has a winners mentality, hates to lose (ask the wheely bin at Workington ) and these are just the qualities I like to see in a rider. His injury this year was a real piece of bad luck at the PLRC on a track that was below par due to weather conditions (see updates for description). In short if he fits I'd quite happily pay to see him in Pirates colours again.

Reserve if all goes to plan at the AGM :-)

Great move by Lakeside, hopefully others will follow suit where possible. Hopefully The Hammers will unearth a few gems as reward for their efforts.
-
Possibly because he wants to win more medals and statistics show he'll be retired before the Robins win again :-)

Confirmed 2013 Gp Riders!
Pirate Nick replied to Hunty's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think some of the criticism aimed at Tai in this thread is a bit uncalled for. It wasn't his decision to get a wild card, he's been offered it and accepted, and who can blame him. I don't agree with the inclusion of a Brit for the sake of it but its not our decision it rests with BSI who obviously think there must be a Brit in the series. If anyone can name a better British rider then go ahead, but I think you'll struggle to find one. -
Adam Ellis To Which Pl Club ?
Pirate Nick replied to EC Rides Again's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm sure the other promoters would be welcome at all the meetings that Vatch & Phil attend with our youngsters. The talent has been on display all year, trouble is our promoters, with one or two exceptions aren't interested in that level of speedway. -

Starman is entitled to his opinion and entitled to post it. If you don't like what he posts why not put him on ignore rather than insult the bloke. -
Somerset V Newcastle Lc Semi. Weds Sept 19.
Pirate Nick replied to Brooksy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I've been there this season and last season and in my opinion its a cracking track to visit. Nice stand, great fans, tea and biscuits to die for and a nice club for afters. The racing has always been good when I've been there so I think youv'e been misinformed (I'll collect my fee on Wednesday,Tsunami, cash no cheques ). -
Interestingly today, Vettel was given a drive through for forcing Alonso off the track. The relevant rule says that when defending a lead you must leave a cars width between you and the edge of the track ie room to race. Putting aside any bias against any particular rider would this work in speedway (a bikes width before anyone points out they dont race cars)?
