Personally for me if club doesn’t keep some of its identity I wouldn’t bother going. I will try and get to a meeting or two this season and see how I feel about it. Lakeside / Arena Essex has always been my local team so I don’t think I would be able to just start supporting another team.

The new site which will be built on the current Arena Essex land. I don’t think a new track will be built and I never have, who would want to build a track for a dying sport with crowds decreasing every year and teams struggling to make money. Jon Cook can say what he likes but I don’t see speedway ever returning to Essex. The club will move to Rye House and that’s where they’ll stay.

Are you sure the new site is going to include a track? Iam not sure about that.

I agree aswell if we made the play offs or final then that should have been run at our track.

So is it the Rye House Hammers or the Lakeside Rockets? Sad to see the raceway close I just hope I can get myself to Rye House to carry on supporting the club.

When I first heard about the crash I feared it was going to be worse than broken bones. All the best in your recovery Dan and if Lakeside do a collection if we ever have another meeting I will be putting a few quid in.

I meant not taking risks on a track he doesn’t think is safe to race on, but you’re right Iam only guessing.

Maybe Nick didn’t feel safe to race on the track and after spending time with Dan Bewley only 24 hours earlier didn’t want to take any risks. I saw Workington fans saying him and Ellis was out on the track with Dan while waiting for the ambulance so I think calling him a disgrace is a bit harsh personally.

I have never seen Nick away from Lakeside so can only say he’s been top class at our track.

I’ve been using different forums for about 5 years and it’s been no different, he’s still upset his services were no longer required at Lakeside and Jon Cook never used to supply tea or sandwich’s lol. Have to say that is a fantastic little story though it really is amazing what you can think up after a shandy or two.

It was down to Lakeside in my opinion but as usual the only ones who were going to lose out is the fans. Doesn’t really matter now anyway, all that matters is that Dan Bewley is going to be ok.

I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere about having meetings at Rye House. Where has this all come from?

With all due respect how would Lakesidelive know? They are a couple of fans.

Even though any crowd was most likely to be low and calling it off has probably cost the promotion thousands I really doubt that was the case. My guess is why the track was raceable they thought let’s try and get the meeting on and hope the rain misses the track.

What’s the problem with them trying to run it though? If anyone knew 100% is was going to be off then don’t go. I thought it would probably be called off but took the chance.

I personally have no problems with the rain off, we all have eyes and access to weather forecasts so can make our own mind up if we want to go and as halifaxtiger said they are not always right as proved with Scunthorpe last night. I made the decision to go last night by the way.

I think the most shocking thing about tonight was when Jon Cook said the juniors were sent out to test the track and once they was ok the ref said the main meeting was ok to run!!! To me that is very very wrong.
