Same mate having no team to support is a kick in the nuts but to be honest I felt like that once Lakeside moved, today is the final nail in the coffin. Such a shame after all these years.
-
The statement says two clubs from national league will be moving up to championship, maybe Kent with Jon Cook?
-
There we have it the fat lady has sung her final note, it was fun while it lasted. Although it was expected I am absolutely gutted. Thanks for the memories.
-
I guess we find out tomorrow if the club will run or if the end will be confirmed?
-
Would love us to be able to carry on at Arena.
-
Is any of this to do with Lakeside 2019?
-
Thanks Geoff lol

Without doubt one of the best signings the club has made. Top bloke

I think when push comes to shove the new developers and council won’t want a speedway track to have anything to do with the new housing development. I don’t see the club racing at Rye House next year as the Rye supporters won’t watch them and the Lakeside fans will not travel either, I am yet to see a Lakeside fan say anything positive about the racing their. Unfortunately I think Lakeside will stop racing this year and we are unlikely to ever see them again.
-
Same here mate. I can’t see it happening personally but I’d love to be wrong.
-
He is definitely going to do all he can to give Essex a speedway team.

Jon Cook 10 minute interview today https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p001tbd5/clips

Stuart used to post on here when he was just a sponsor before he took over the club, so if he does still look on here I want to tell him thank you for giving me a team to support for all these years and thanks for the memories.
-
No one will which has always been the case but some people wanted him gone so looks like they will now get their wish, wonder where they will all go to watch their speedway now though? Just have to hope all these people queuing up to promote a speedway club step up and take over the hammers.
-
I hope Cook does go and promote another club, certain people have wanted Cook gone for years, so now if you get your wish let’s see who steps forward and takes over our club afterall there must be loads of people wanting to do it who can do a better job.

The fat lady is singing.

I will always look out for their results and if they do stay at Rye I will maybe make the odd meeting but it will never be the same to me. I miss Arena and although it’s only recently happened I have found that as the weeks went on I missed it less which surprised me as I only missed a handful of home meetings over all them years. Like others have said thanks for the memories!

It really is sad but to be honest I made my peace with it after the Glasgow meeting. It’s been hard not going as it’s been part of my life for over 30 years but I have found other things to do to replace speedway.
-
I think people need to forget the idea of returning to Essex it’s never going to happen no matter how much Cook and Douglas try, in my opinion anyway. The Rye move just hasn’t worked out at all so anywhere would most probably be better just not sure the fans will go in numbers to either Eastbourne or Kent. As sad as it is i just don’t see the club surviving much longer but of course I hope I am wrong and the club goes from strength to strength and does one day return home.
-
Congratulations to Workington you would have won over two legs even if we was at Arena. Shame we couldn’t put up any fight whatsoever though. The best team won.
-
Something tells me 10 points definitely is not enough lol.
-
Possibly but that’s not for me personally, Arena Essex / Lakeside was my club. My last memory will be the win over Glasgow in front of a big crowd.
-
Can’t argue with that mate
-
It’s going to be a tough ask. Really hope we can do it, it’s a shame we couldn’t finish the season at our home because Iam not sure this Rye experiment will have helped us running next season.
-
Good luck Lakeside we deserve to win this after the season we have had.
