  1. I think most people would agree a combination of 1and 2 is the ideal scenario, but surely the amount of teams in the league and the combined average of last year should be taken into account in some way. Last year was 39 , averages went up and this year less teams. Would have thought even putting it to 40 would not have threatened the development side, but may have made it easier for progressing 4/5 pointers to get a place, rather than 3 pointers who will falter.
  2. As expected, Tom Brennen back for next year.
  3. Totally agree, another fine example of diluting a pretty good product ( the nl) and making it less attractive for spectators and bad for the riders on the second/third rung of development as they could be frozen out over averages. Just not enough Kemps and Edwards to justify the points limit, will be a lot of poor 3 pointers in teams next year with a lot of poor races.
  4. As they own the stadium can't think after all these year's they'd be selling up, but both have said how busy they are with their jobs.Perhaps they'll stay as ' directors ' of the club, but relinquish the weekly running of it. Perhaps after involving him after his injury last year making Mark Baseby team manager?
  5. I know there's no real answer to a dying sport in a dodgy economic climate, but if it did go that way, there will only be a few tracks left open throughout the country, the few riders left who fancy an adrenaline rush will be paying for an afternoon riding, and no paying public at all. Just have a horrible feeling that's the way it will go.
  6. Not that I agree, but a lot of people say we still have a training track, not a full size one!!!
  7. Connor did say he wouldn't be drawn into further rider announcements until he knew the points limit, so perhaps more likely club or sponsorship news.
  8. Yes you're right and of the choices think they would plan to build around those 2 being at reserve, but as usual all will depend on the points limit which I hope goes up at least a point, preferably a bit more.
  9. Having given it a bit more thought as Jason should be one of the strongest reserves, maybe even better to go with another 3 pointer if possible, Kelsey at 2, who should compete there, but would leave a good amount of points left for the remaining 4 whatever the limit . You would think worst case would be Kelsey or Jason at reserve.
  10. Great signing and hopefully can build a team with Jason and Kelsey starting at reserve. All depends on the points limit they set on the 14th, but whatever it is couldn't be a better base to build from.
  11. Well those last three posts have saved me a lot of typing , all good points and hope they listen to the fans, as unlikely as that seems. ....
  12. Totally agree,I've said previously make it 42.5 to mirror the other leagues and for a minimum of 2 seasons, with the option to roll it on after the first if it looks right. Sure that's the type of figure that would allow a broad spread of ages and abilities and to allow the youngsters to move up in the averages and retain them for a further season or 2 even once they get into the 8's and 9's.Make it too low and you'll lose them too soon.
  13. I think the announcement will more than likely be Tom, or maybe Jason Edwards, either will be on the sheet no matter the points limit.Sure Georgie will be with us again, but may just hold fire to see what plans he has in the championship.
  14. I echo that, the way the IOW go about things they deserve to have a decent competitive season, hope they have more luck than the last one.
  15. Another promoter wanting to have the AGM as soon as possible. It's still beyond me how by the the end of November there's no date, let alone the actual event
  16. If he has case closed, he's allowed to ride in the NL
  17. Surely since the NL has become a 'proper' league over the last few years we've had more young British riders looking like they can make the jump to a higher level and perhaps to the highest. I think British speedway is in a more promising position than the last 20 years. This is not just the Birmingham riders mentioned but Brennen, Jenkins, Bewley,Kemp just to name a few. Think this league is just right at the moments for bringing on the youngsters. I know this view won't please everyone, but it is still a development one really.
  18. If cost is not a factor as you say it's a no brainer. Sign a good quality No 1 on a reasonable average like JPB and a 3.00 pointer like you have and then wait for the averages to come out to build the rest of the team. One assumes worst case scenario is 39, hopefully will go up at least to 42. Even with Hume would leave 20 points for 4 riders if it's 39
  19. Fairly sure they haven't got together to arrange a date to discuss it yet, let alone a date for the actual agm!
  20. Exactly right, although if Knight or Bailey don't come back to Eastie, yes please!
  21. All 3 leagues 42.5, then leave it alone. Every one will be able to build from the last greensheets from November. Only thing may need tweaking is the conversion between the various leagues.
  22. What do I know! Glad I was wrong though and if he starts at reserve with Edwards, would be a good pairing.
  23. Think I'll have a proper go when we know the points limit. I do see there's very little between Josh, Jake and Mark in the averages, and I can only think one of the 3 will be back, would say Jake or Josh are more of an out an out No1, but Mark is 0.2 ish lower so if it's really close to the limit, that may come into play. Think we will build around Brennen and Wood again though. Has the National League agm date been announced yet ?
