What League system do the fans want?
gazzac replied to WeymouthPirate's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
British speedway will be shafted by Poland whatever league format me have. Keep a 'top' league and there won't be many if any of the top line riders like Sayfutdinov over here, all we'll end up doing is paying the second tier heat leaders much the same money. One league with a sensible pay structure and closely matched teams would be ideal, but as said not enough riders, sorry to be so pessimistic but not looking good really. -
I think certain riders can't help it, it's become their norm.
-
He was obnoxious as a teenager (had experience of him swearing in front of young kids at Arlington for no reason ), and he's never changed really.
-
If it's a normal dry track it's 'easier' for the home team with set up hard for the away, if its wet especially with late rain it's harder than usual for the home team to set up and hard for the away team, so a wet track must even it up slightly?

Scott is universally liked and you know he'll give it everything, under the circumstances best that could happen at this late notice. Just shows the poor team building of this team, as has been said, not building around a decent number one was almost guaranteed to have this effect.

Looks like one big league has 100% of the vote at the moment! Think most would prefer a slightly lower standard, closer racing, a greater variety of teams visiting and to visit, not be s**t on by the Polish leagues and able to race on a night of the clubs choosing. If enough rides can be offered to riders to make a living think they'll be enough to go round, certainly for 6 man teams probably 7. Obviously never happen though as the fans are never listened to and a few promoters will 'veto' any thought of the idea...... -
Probably spell check Jack to John.....

I love speedway but was an Eastie fan first and they were 'my' team and really only watched at Arlington ( or Eastie away) plus the odd individual/world championship. But your first sentence really does sum up the problem now for people like us with defunct clubs, you could drive to at least 6 tracks fairly close to you on far less busy roads than today, I have a 150 to 200 mile round trip to my closest 2 tracks on s**te busy roads.
-
That looks a life like image to me......

Exactly right, Holder will put 100% into the gp's and Poland, Doyle will put in 100% everywhere.

SGB Championship 2024 Confirmed Signings
gazzac replied to bloom89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hopefully 8-24 is not the date a replacement is achieved as well...... -
That makes you cringe looking at.... hope they mend all ok and Nico makes a quick recovery, certainly don't come back too soon.

King’s Lynn 2024 serious team predictions
gazzac replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The problem for the foreseeable future is that the stadium owners still allow Spedeworth to run cars and don't want speedway to return at what seems any level. Suppose a load of money could change that, but can't see that happening really unfortunately. -

On the flip side Eastbourne's had their greatest night in 2000 for the title win with an enormous crowd. At least KL still have a team to support though.... and think Crump was the fastest rider I ever saw there in his prime, just for us Eastie fans now. -
Thanks, somehow missed that bit.
-
I can see your point and pleased Perry has got a NL ride, so not anti it being done, but I'd have a bet during the season that when there's an injury or a possibility of a team change(s) caused by an injury etc and it comes in at 36.25 not 36 that the precedent set would make it difficult not to allow it even if it didn't have all teams in agreement.
-
Sure it's 36.25....
-
Maybe modern day health and safety when unattended? Although would think no worse than gas bottles etc.
-
It would be, and I can't like again so it does seem to be random.....

Did try that with a different browser and still couldn't, am using chrome as usual now and couldn't on that before, but can now after changing settings on the google 'bar' for privacy and cookie settings that comes up at the bottom of a page if you scroll down. It may not be that and just a coincidence, but know it's been annoying a lot of posters including me.
-
I've not been able to 'like' etc on posts for months ( like a lot of posters on here) and not found out why, also got fed up with more ads keep popping up so went into privacy and cookie settings to switch off all the unnecessary ad ones. Straight after could like a post, don't know whether it's just coincidence but maybe worth a try, at worst cuts back on the pop ups

Looks if Tungate can bring his Australian form over, Oxford are looking a pretty solid unit this season, get to the playoffs then who knows as usual.
-
Can't like still, but like. Not a guest FOR Eddie then......only joking, saw Eddie when he rode in the second halves and when he first went under 60 seconds as a kid, nice to have some previous Eagles in attendance inc Kev Coombes.
-
Sure this wouldn't apply to Arlington, Spedeworth are still operating there and the stadium/ site is viable, it's the stadium owners who prefer not to let speedway back in, just assumed that was probably still the case, but you never know....

Hope the evening plans are moving along ok and the interest is still there for the Eagles. Distance and grandchildren babysitting unfortunately curtails me coming, but hope all the effort MD and others put in keeps the club in the public eye. Assume the Arlington situation is still the same with no chance of a return in the future?
