  1. That should have happened a decade or so ago, will that really happen now? Perhaps there's a number of clubs they have to get down to first, maybe single figures before it happens?
  2. Plus Ian Jordon may have said he'd get Eastbourne money owed paid promptly( although that maybe the case for all riders anyway) and a deal for going to Plymouth?
  3. Plymouth obviously then, after all he has done the majority of home matches there this season, so will be dialled in straight away.
  4. I'm sure the current Eastbourne scenario would have played out like this over seasons gone by had it not been for the Dugard family/business, especially the driving force ( no pun intended) of the late Bob Dugard. Without them, probably could have happened back in 2014/15, can't think they would want to get involved again on the speedway side without Bob and all the BSPL shenanigans going on.
  5. At least Brands Hatch and Thruxton will gain a bit more from me certainly this season, both only about 20 miles further than Arlington for me, maybe double the money for Superbikes or BTCC compared to a speedway meeting( club meetings no dearer)but an all day event and could do half a dozen for the same money as my speedway budget. The trouble is me and my family have been speedway fans at Arlington for the last 25 years( me longer) , but used to do Brands a lot more than now, but it's all habit, get back into that again and next season don't think speedway would come back into the equation, unless by some miracle we can revert back to the NL level of 4/5 seasons ago, personally I think that's the end of speedway at Arlington sadly, only people to step in would be the Dugards again, and I really think they've had enough at this point.
  6. Won't make any difference to Leicester getting into the play offs really and more or less nailed on Poole will come top, then you've still every chance if everyone performs as they should.
  7. Could have written the post myself (apart from the Kent bit) as you say probably an age thing, even the 100 mile round trip seems harder at 65 than 35!!
  8. I think with all the 'stuff' over the last 18 months ( covid and the continuing ineptitude of the people who 'run' speedway)it feels like you've been continually hit with a cricket bat in the face one way or another and it almost has got to point where what will be will be, hence the silence from the fans. I've got to the point where it's easier to see what is announced tomorrow than worry about it and comment beforehand, probably a lot feel the same.
  9. Obvious to most but not all obviously.
  10. Be interesting to count all the similar posts on here from the likes of Sings ,ianb ,lefty, Barry etc and loads from me stating the same or very similar, every post that goes on makes me more and more annoyed that the selfishness of a few may have finished speedway off for good on this country.
  11. They do especially on social media, but the likes of Poole have always had an advantage over a lot of teams in that they must gain quite a few hundred (plus) every meeting from fans who walk or travel a very short distance, unlike all having to drive to Arlington, it's a 100 mile round trip for me. I remember the heady days of meetings at Exeter with Ivan Mauger etc, that really was a track( and what a track) where a large proportion of the crowd walked there, and the likes of me on holiday were a bonus.
  12. Never thought I'd like one of your posts but agree with this one, more like this and not the usual anti Eastbourne rhetoric please !!
  13. Middle of a highly populated area, not the middle of nowhere, so no comparison really.
  14. Yes and no really. I did think with our crowd levels ( before covid) it would be a tight line financially, but with what seemed good sponsorship and the brilliant media side would be ok, but then covid happened. I do think alongside Birmingham and Kent to name a couple, we had a successful product taken away that was sustainable even now, and that was the proper National League of a few seasons ago and clubs like I've mentioned had no choice to go Championship or probably disappear as the NDL now seems a non event really, not a proper league and not as good a development tool. IOW bravely took things into their own hands which looks to have been a success for them which I comend, but does look a bit dire for a lot of clubs, we will see!
  15. At least from Ian it will be a cut and dried statement of fact as usual and everyone will know what's going on good or bad. Need to do it as if these are just rumours ( although unfortunately I do think there must be some truth in them) need to nip in the bud as crowds will be affected even more if the rumours aren't correct.
  16. Definitely would have too much hair for Peterborough, might be a frightening sight for most of the team.
  17. I'm not 100% sure, but think Bruce Cribb holds the outright 4 lap record on his ice bike at Eastbourne, about 2 seconds faster than the speedway record held by Crump and Chris Holder and about 20 years before their record. Obviously he's somewhat older now as I imagine the bike is, but be interesting to see how fast it still is on a large track.
  18. I think when the NL 'peaked' about 5 seasons ago it was probably around the standard of a Championship Lite today, so would be ideal. At one point we had Adam Ellis( on the way up) and Ellis Perks in the team ( and still didn't win the playoff that year). Similar standard today as of then, would still lead to the likes of Brennen, the Thompson's etc improving to heat leader status, and the likes of Abblit progressing maybe more quickly than now, and still leave room for the emerging talent to come in at reserve. Maybe be able to expand the second halves at these meetings and always have SDL and MDL meetings etc after to bring that talent. Won't happen though .
  19. He's always been erratic throughout his career for club or country, just continuing with the same trend I imagine.
  20. I think we had the product a few seasons ago at Eastbourne and clubs like Birmingham and Kent, with the right balance of good racing and cost, the NL as it was at that time, too successful though for the upper echelon of the BSPA , so they had to put a stop to that. I know this will open up the 'but it's a development league', but it didn't do much harm to for the likes of Brennen, Kemp plus too many to mention.
  21. Good win for the Eagles with a good team performance, more comfortable than the scoreline suggests really.
  22. I'm sure the stats are correct, but no Richard Lawson is a surprise, having seen him race at Arlington and on tv in the Premiership, wouldn't swop him with any of the above.
