Premiership Play-Off Ties CONFIRMED
gazzac replied to BartoszZmarzlikFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Eastbourne won a trophy called the gold cup before they did the playoffs in the NL, only one season so that must be kicking about somewhere. Just need the sponsored part now, simples. -
Unfortunately my thoughts at the moment are probably not ( hope I'm wrong obviously) but even if they do come back, more likely at NL level and preferably to a proper league as of a few seasons ago with multiple stand alone clubs, IOW, Mildenhall, maybe Birmingham etc, I don't think you'll hear anything until the new year at the earliest one way or another.

If it's a bit wet as well he'll throw the pram!
-
It does look like a close overall win for Peterborough, but think I'm right in saying all 3 championships Wolves have won since the playoffs began in 2002 (knicking it from the far superior Eastbourne team over the season ) they were 2nd in the league table on all 3 occasions. I know it's history, but Wolves do have form when it comes to the playoffs when not topping the table.

Premiership Play-Off Ties CONFIRMED
gazzac replied to BartoszZmarzlikFan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Time to revert to league toppers at the end of the season crowned champions. Old argument but any hint of credibility the playoffs had (if they ever did) has gone totally now. Not a case of 'who dares wins' now, as 'who cares wins'. -
Some engineering to make sure only one of Harris or Andersen goes above Ostergaard I would imagine.

Belle Vue -V- Sheffield (Eurosport) Monday 06/09

Craig Boyce did a reasonable amount of acknowledging after some races I seem to remember. -
That's too close a gap really, should be about half, but we know the reasons why.
-
I don't know what the Premiership teams earn from tv money, but it looks like the costs to run a Championship team aren't far short of running a Premiership one, so maybe with the right promotion a possibility?
-
Back to the Dugards ( if they've still the will and enthusiasm which only they would know) in a competitive NL with a decent points limit so fans will pay to watch is probably the only viable way next season, oh we had that before it was taken away.
-
Having seen him in his prime, probably time to call it a day, hate for him to have an even worse injury(s) than he had this year. Management maybe a different thing if it materialised , although great riders don't always make great managers think he would be pretty good though.

As its Poole probably get awarded the cup because they're Poole, must be in the rules somewhere.

BANDITS v BULLETS @ BERWICK: SATURDAY, Aug 28th
gazzac replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Much weaker league then though looking at that shabby trio. -
Only thing is a poor team would have led to maybe lower crowds, but we'll never know now, so many mistakes and to be honest quite a lot of bad luck. That was a surprise!! (Not)
-
Would we have been involved in the Championship if the NL had carried on in it's successful format of pre 2019? Probably not I imagine.
-
The first paragraph in the first answer in the Q and A answers the main reason for Easties current demise. " In November 2018 Martin and Connor Dugard decided to step down as the NDL looked to become a muched weakened league " A lot to answer for Eastie and quite a few other clubs at the moment.

Still to establish as a top heat leader in the CL so would imagine he will be ( for Glasgow). Who's Tim Brennen come to think of it?
-
What a waste of time trying to bring on the likes of Brennen and the other British youngsters we had and to come like Abblit and Foorde, was over the last 5/6 seasons ( some made it some didn't) ,especially as Tom doesn't look to be an asset an any longer. Wish I'd given up on them now before we went NL back those 6 seasons.Sounds bitter, but the hope was supporting them through that time we'd build a team like we had in the past with Martin Dugard/Norris/Barker etc and feel any chance has been thrown away and gone for good. One way or another end of the Eastbourne Eagles, either permanently or in the ethos they've always had.
-
I bet he's been paid what he's owed as part of the deal to go to Plymouth I would imagine.
-
If you get to the playoffs in 6th, then have a full team, still got every chance in this topsy turvy season.
-
Not much they can do with it with in the constraints of the stock car track I imagine, shame it couldn't originally have built where the stock car track is now really.
