  1. I think Poole as usual will be there at the end, personally can't believe Glasgow won't finish above Plymouth and Oxford, but that's the joy of our sport, different veiws.
  2. ....And Shoeless Joe, although he'll be in trouble around the bends....
  3. Perhaps the track should be named " the field of dreams" ?
  4. That looks a perfect size length/width etc. What's amazing is if someone wound it on and rode most of the race near the boards ( unlikely I know) distance wise could be nearly an extra lap against someone riding the white line! Bet some of the brave on the boards riders like Chris Harris will love coming here, especially if it's a bit grippy .
  5. I suppose most fans are concerned rather than being negative, and the 1000 attendance statement didn't do any favours, but as you say wait until the last signings and see then.
  6. That would be a great signing, but assume whatever he's done work wise since 'retirement' if successful would anyone really want to swop that in the current climate?
  7. Only trouble is did they really make the grade when they previously came over, not really, and probably worse now if still riding, and you would have to pay the current rate for a rider who's substandard championship level. It just again shows the damage the powers that be did by finishing off a competitive NL of a few seasons ago for self interest, I'm sure the conveyor belt of the Brennen's, Palin etc would have continued to a greater extent than it has since. I know it won't answer all the problems with rider shortage, but I bet Birmingham, Eastbourne, Kent and others would have stayed in a competitive NL, less teams in the championship so more riders to go round and continuing to bring through the young talent. Too much of a threat to the upper leagues though.
  8. I maybe selfish, speedway heaven for me is both.
  9. Although a far higher level in his prime, wasn't Bjarne Pedersen slightly in that mould? How many times did he lead from the gate and was almost impossible to pass, but not quite in the Holder/ Ward league at coming from the back. I'm not comparing like for like but there is as much skill to gate and stay there, sure his points hauls will overcome a slightly less exciting rider.
  10. Plus if the Poole/Basso spit was acrimonious, may have been a feeling on both sides Basso would never ride for Poole again, so why not cash in and get a reliable top performer in the championship, can either continue to use him or get loan fees, and as said this could be Basso's last season in GB.
  11. Is it an optical illusion or is there quite a slope from the far bend to the one closest to the camera? Looks good whatever.
  12. Maybe not the right thread but is there any money to be made at grasstack at Mulfords level, or is it just the excitement/adrenaline, plus a chunk towards the costs ( or maybe fund it ) and be able to work during the week?
  13. Assuming as expected that is the team, if Poole are at worst within a few points by heat 11, they're unlikely to lose many matches, especially at home again.
  14. That's a bit ripe coming from a Brummie fan with their renowned track prep....just saying
  15. Also you know you'll always get 100% from Doyle, not so sure about NKI and a few others mentioned.
  16. He was one of the best few riders I've ever seen, and definitely the fastest at Arlington, and his races with Nicki still stick in the memory ( faster rider vs a better racer)but I think last season shows age catches up with everyone and personally I'd rather remember him in his prime and hopefully he'll make a great manager.
  17. I said it last week the only way is to ignore the trolls, lasted for about an hour, it will be the only way it'll go away or it will just keep going on all season. Hard to do I know, but just reply to the proper speedway posts, unless there's a few of you Poole fans who enjoy it as much as the 2 or 3 thread spoilers on here.
  18. They definitely are few and far between, was just trying to think how Georgie Wood got his go, think that was from a taster day at Arlington, maybe Powell and Brooks, but they were all accomplished grass trackers used to powerful 500cc bikes. Not sure there's any more of that type waiting in the wings.
  19. You would hope he would be, if not back to the new promotion at Eastbourne in 2023 I would hope.
  20. That would be the ideal scenario I imagine, especially if Flint does improve as expected but can remain there, more points, more confidence, more points money.
  21. Another one off the Eastie conveyor belt, hope he realises the potential he seemed to have before the Jordon debacle.
  22. I know it's been said already but the only way is to ignore, with no interest posted against the trolls they will soon look more stupid than they already do. If you have to post a reply just say 'Ignore' or something and move on. I'm not a Poole fan but these cheat posts etc are a bit pathetic and boring now.
  23. There is quite a bit of truth in this, Eastbourne between 1995 and 2010 always seemed to go with a few 'fiery' riders in their teams. Different times, but always went to expect the unexpected , and was so much fun with opposing riders and fans, especially local(ish) derbies. Mind you did have the likes of Dugard ,Pedersen, Crump, Loram Hancock etc riding here at the time, so that may have helped. My children started in this era, and it was always the edge of it, riding to the limit and the handbags etc that was the most exciting bit.
