  1. Fingers crossed it's a positive one. I know the owners don't really want NL but unless there's something dramatically different from last year with sponsorship etc not sure where we can go. Unless even this summer on a few Sunday afternoons we could go down the IOW ( Nora) route and at least keep the track alive other than stock cars. I'd go just for the noise/smell and introduce a couple of young grandchildren who haven't been to a speedway meeting, a bit more variety might hold their attention for more than 5 mins aswell.
  2. I believe there maybe a team around the corner from them called the Tarrant Hinton Tradesmen's.....
  3. Good job you don't race on a Friday night, Pompey on that day just after 10pm is an experience at times.....
  4. Democracy always (mostly?) wins Chairman THJ. Ideas were both ok, but simplicity probably was the overiding factor in the vote for most I imagine ? Ps, by the way I'm an OAP and beer under 5% abv why bother? and the only coffee I'd have is is with a nice malt in with it out the hip flask.....
  5. I know you're probably being a bit flippant( always a first I suppose ) with the £16, but having thought about it again £13 is spot on for a stand alone club. If the track is as good as it looks, good value, shame it's 500 mile+ round trip for me otherwise I'd give it go if I was closer.
  6. Unfortunately a few years ago may have been £10, but can't see that back again now really. Although we had quite an expensive team for NL , Eastbourne charged £13 back in 2018 and before, so can't think it's far out today. I think more teams will stop the OAP concession and that's coming from one who would qualify.
  7. Good deal for families for an afternoon's speedway, Mum ,Dad and 3 kids for £25. Says introductionary offer, but if successful and hopefully the crowds are healthy and its viable has to be the way with NL.
  8. You're so right with a good perseived product in whatever league you start/ end up in, get that right and people will come. Also as an away fan always preferred going to an out of town venue rather than a town centre type ( being an Eastie fan I suppose). Went to Tralawney a couple of times on holiday when they were running, that really was remote in a disused china clay pit, but had a pretty good track, a young Chris Harris and pulled in good numbers. Your new track looks to be a winner so sure you'll do fine.
  9. I've heard from a reliable source it's still going to be the Jubilee Cup held for King Charles silver jubilee, assume that'll be 2048 I suppose if he makes it to then, otherwise will probably be posponed.
  10. I suppose if that's what you've got to do .......
  11. Can't remember the exact reason but he never rode for Eastbourne in 2002( may have been a Saturday night fixture problem),and we ended up with Mark Loram instead which may have been our choice when he became available. Having said that he was amazing for Poole even around the tight track the couple of times I saw him at Arlington.
  12. You are correct and feel sorry for most of the 'normal' repressed Russians as well as the Ukrainians, but you have sort of answered the last part of my question, maybe better to look at other options ?
  13. I know politics and sport should be kept separate but they aren't. Even though Emil gets to ride through the backdoor on a Polish licence, personally every Russian sportsman should condemn what's going on in Ukraine to compete anywhere. He may have done this already, be so pleased if he has and welcome him, but if not I'd be looking elsewhere.
  14. Totally agree, Eastbourne had so many exciting matches and playoffs against BV, Birmingham especially and even quite raucous derbies against Kent during that period.
  15. Agree it looks a really good team, not sure they'll walk it? Leicester and Oxford don't look too shabby, but that's how it should be, hopefully the NL will get back somewhere near to the heady days of 2015/18.
  16. Perhaps I should have said in front of him, he couldn't see Hancock at that point but Hancock could see him. Not really defending him, but sure if it had been the other way round Pedersen would have backed off and not come off. Saw Mr clean Leigh Adams do a similar pass on Pedersen on our tight Arlington track back in the day, it was back off or air fence for Pedersen which he did, survived and passed him a lap later. Just shows why he's box office I suppose, whether you like or loath him.
  17. I know this will be controversial for a lot, but wasn't Pedersen passed him and Hancock should have backed off? I bet the other way round Pedersen would have backed off and come again at him next bend.
  18. And what topping is best for you, maple syrup or some other Scottish delicacy......
  19. You must have a lot of interesting info for such a broad statement which I'm sure THJ can confirm......
  20. Great move, from word go makes a team look a team, can't believe it doesn't even help with team bonding as well. Slightly more cost but worth every penny to me.
  21. 3 kids, 4 grandkids and both 66, and 40 plus years of watching speedway ( until Eastbourne closed) so done the lot, money well spent.......?
