  1. Probably Ai, changed the thread title on route, or fat finger syndrome like me....😅
  2. Think those days have well and truly gone, so unreliable and has been for many years unfortunately, and let so many teams down. Think it was the last chance really, time for both rider and promoters to move on to something new I would have thought.
  3. Must certainly be one of the toughest riders ever, physically and mentally, just hope he has an injury free season, a true servant to British speedway.
  4. Slightly off topic, but with the above I do think a lot of riders of all levels are swayed with so called trick(y) tracks and are mentally beaten before they ride them. Remember at Arlington seeing it both ways, even in our NL days, some were beaten before they rode there, but remember Adam Ellis, Ellis Perks, and and others getting to grips( no pun intended) straight away. Obviously exceptional, but Dan Bewley's one meeting there early days in the NL saw him flirt with the fence in his first race, then win the next 4 and look amazing. Think it is probably a worse situation now, most can ride on the block, but don't have the throttle skills of riders gone by. Think it maybe partly the reason Tom Brennen has risen above the others of his era, honed his skill as a nipper at Arlington.
  5. Glad to hear you're ale and hearty....
  6. There's always comments on here about a few riders and their big wage demands, especially Zagar and MPT, just wondered if it's fact, especially as they've got to the tail end of their careers or just a story from someone 'in the know' years ago and it just gets repeated down the line true or not?
  7. Can't imagine why there would be any reason not to let them in to the NT, make it 6 teams, another meeting? As long as Mildenhall can build a team quick enough to the same limits etc as the other teams can't think it would be a problem, definitely don't want a fiddle of the rules to let them in.
  8. I imagine there must be some sort of wage structure/budget for middle order riders outside of the top end of Sayfutinov and Doyle. If Ellis and King are on the same(or very similar) money and maybe even Brennen, if Rew wanted quite a bit higher the decision was made for Ipswich on cost and team cohesion. If it became knowledge to the other remaining 2 he was on more money would probably damage a bit of team spirit from the get go.
  9. 2nd maybe 😅...
  10. Seem to remember at least one Holder getting injured training on a moto cross bike pre season, and although after he retired Lee Adams fateful ride the desert. I think in general top speedway riders put their fearlessness before moto cross ability.
  11. You'd think Aussie speedway riders would learn stay off moto cross bikes, never ends well...
  12. Had some good banter with THJ a few years ago on here, think had a similar level of sarcasm, was he not in the best health either a few years ago? Lost friends always sad, especially as a lot of us are long term fans and we're all getting old/older. First time I went was 55 years ago, so if I disappear off here, you probably know what's happened. On that joyous note..... Happy Christmas to you all 😅.
  13. Shame they haven't used any former Kent riders as heat leaders and relatively local to make it a joint venture......think you might be alone on your views on the Eagles/Norris bit.
  14. I may be wrong, but think the Kent eagles are a new team and a new promotion.
  15. Trying to stay out of all the vitriolic posts both ways on here, an honest question, if Poole had started to build the side the Kent eagles are starting to build in the NLT with Abblit, Foord, and Morley, plus the runner up to Cairns in the youth championship this year, would the attendance be reasonable ( pay its way?) Question was asked earlier if any NL teams at least break even, can't think for a minute in its first season this new team/promotion won't achieve that.
  16. Think you're probably right there(just) but Holder's on his game 5/10, and Kurtz 9/10 in the Premiership.
  17. So HG, VJF in the NDL and NLT, OK?.....
  18. Don't be silly, best solutions are never used in speedway, sure something far more complicated will be used.
  19. He will be very good if he is, Screen was brilliant as a 16 year old, and world u23 champion in 1993. Was still at a really high level winning the Elite league with Eastie in 2000, until 2001 when he badly broke his leg and was never the same. Still put in a good turn for another 10 years though including Poole.
  20. Or maybe eventually brought the mathematical equation into the range of the powers that be.......
  21. Knowing Poole's luck/planning, expect Starke will have his best season for years, Foord will have an average one and be back next season on a similar average as this year. Hope not from Workington's point of view but could happen.
  22. Good second signing and like the ethos of a 30 year old heat leader and a promising 15 year old as the first 2 signings. See on the bspa website Jamie was 2nd to Cairns in the youth championship this year so an ideal signing. A 15 year old, a 30 year old, who's 45 and still riding......
  23. Could do Without You in this conversation......
  24. One way or another he should be forgotten about, and if he's any sence should have got a proper job by now.....
