Which grounds would these be that are willing or able to allow their pitches to be either partly ripped up or covered over and yet still guarantee that the meeting will be on whatever the weather? Can't think of any off hand. Hampden is no longer the stadium it was when the Tigers rode there. COMS took out the athletics track.Old Trafford?The Emirates? Don't think so.
  2. Try the Queen's Vaults across the road from the main entrance - the venue a few years back of a somewhat refreshed Carl Stonehewer masterclass(!) in cue artistry witnessed by Mark Loram and various others!

  4. Apart from winning 54-24 in '72 The corners of the the pitch were actually coconut matting so they could be removed to accommodate the Wasps after the County had played their home games.Many moans from Fourth Division players about dodgy corners(not for the last time at Newport!!!)
