  1. Jacki has just put on Facebook that they still intend to put the kickboards on on Sunday from 10am.
  2. Birmingham will be riding on a Wednesday too.
  3. Ty Proctor's final GSA last year was 6.96, but he's still signed for Sheffield for the coming season. How is that?
  4. Is that why Redcar are racing against Somerset in Round 1?
  5. April 19th: https://www.younglionsspeedway.co.uk/2019-dates/
  6. One less home (& Away) league fixture, obviously. Berwick have already announced that their Bordernaplois meeting will now be included for those Season Ticket holders. Looks to me that they moved us (Newcastle) into the "Scottish" Group, to replace the Comets, so it won't affect Glasgow, Edinburgh and Berwick for the Shield, but will now affect Sheffield, Redcar and Scunthorpe, I would guess!! Don't know about the KOC as the draw for that wasn't announced (either that or I didn't see it!!).
  7. The Shield Groups are regionalised (or as regionalised as possible), so were always going to be in the same group.
  8. I think they laid down cuttings of turf at each corner of the rugby pitch, over the speedway track at Odsal (Bradford) when the Rugby and Speedway were both there.
  9. Perhaps he's got more sense than money. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.
  10. Info from a fading memory and Newcastle History website concerning Andre: http://www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk/1990s.htm My point is just correcting you in we finished fourth. No malicious motive.
  11. Andre broke his ankle in the P&P. We finished fourth in the league.
  12. Stevie Worrall will still be riding for Belle Vue in the Premiership. Tero Aarnio won't be in the Premiership (unless he signs at a later date for someone) and it completely knacks Mason Campton. Totally agree with your first sentence.
  13. The problem with that is, season tickets are already on sale, with the amount of fixtures already worked out on the assumption that it will be 3 groups of 4 in the Champ Shield and 11 home league fixtures. If they divided the Shield to North/South, the clubs would have extra home meetings, not accounted for on the price of a season ticket. It's bad enough fans have bought a season ticket thinking they were paying for at least 11 home league meetings, rather than the 10 they have now ended up paying for.
  14. Joe Owen. His daughter Cheryl is married to Scott Courtney. It also points out he's "Not so much a fan but more an admirer."

  16. And a nice piece on young Archie Freeman too
  17. I (kind of) remember a few years ago at Exeter, when Newcastle were there, that one of the Falcons riders was using a rev limiter and the Diamonds management complained and he was told not to use it as it was "giving him an unfair advantage." I think the rider was Seemond Stephens, but don't hold me to that.
  18. Will you also name those (if any) that are against them (genuine, unbiased question!!)?
  19. Redcar require a new team sponsor... http://www.redcar-speedway.com/2019/01/07/bears-thank-ecco/
  20. Shouldn't, as Newcastle have said they hope to open on Sunday 31st March with a Challenge against Redcar.
  21. I'd have Matty at 2 with Victor and Nike at 3 and 4 (doesn't really matter which way round they are) and I'd also swap Max and Danny round too. Just personal opinion, of course. I think, in addition to being OK at home, for the most part, again this year, we should do better away from home than we have the past few seasons (that's not a dig at any riders we've had in the past, by the way!), so we might finish top 6.
