I've said it before and I will say it again (more than once probably), promoters can't win. If they go ahead and the forecast is spot on, it's "well, that was never going to happen, the forecast said so." Otherwise it's the comment above by iainb .

MEETING ALERT Lions boss Stewart Dickson: “The forecast does not look good for tomorrow. We’ve a contingency plan which will be Sunday at 5.30pm. We’d like to thank the Newcastle promotion & riders for agreeing if necessary to run Sunday. A decision will be made at 9am Saturday.
What it doesn't say is, if they are in this country, their employers must know where they are at any time, which, apparently, is a pain in the rear end.
This is what I've been told at any rate.
It was the "old" starting procedure in both matches.
The Diamonds have ridden in four matches so far and the "new" procedure has been used just once, at home to Redcar last week. Having said that, two of the matches (away at Redcar and on Sunday at home to Berwick) have had the same referee in charge.
I asked someone last week (a Starting Marshal) and the reply I got was "it's up to the referee." If this is indeed correct (and I have no doubt it is), what's the point of having the rule and being able to use the 'old' rule? It's just going to confuse.
