Redcar v Newcastle Tyne Tees Trophy 29.03.19
StevePark replied to Yearbyred's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I don't think the result is the be all and end all, seeing it was the first match of the season and only a challenge with a trophy nailed to it (as the late Bob Tasker used to say!). Nice to win, yes, but not that important in the grand scheme of things. -
Redcar v Newcastle Tyne Tees Trophy 29.03.19

? You missed some great racing and no-one got hurt. What's not to like? -
MPT isn't too shabby around Brough and, IIRC, Charles Wright went round there OK last time he was there.
-
I can't remember if it was studs or velcro (although it might have been both!),
-
The number 3 was on his kevlars, with studs/velcro still there for a number to go on top so he may not necessarily be number 3.

It would have been a bit later than that as the first Northern Launch was 2014. I think it was the 2016 one, but I'm not entirely sure.
-
Apparently, both will be at Sheffield. Steve W will do the "Press" bit at Newcastle and head off to Sheffield, whilst Simon L has been given permission to miss Newcastle altogether. Unless you know otherwise.
-
As already said, they agreed to do the Sheffield meeting before signing for Newcastle, so would be hard on them not to be allowed to ride in it. A few seasons ago (when we used to host all the Northern teams for the "Northern Launch"), Berwick sent their number eight, as the rest were at Kelso Races on a "jolly" which had been arranged long after the date of the Launch was announced. I am sure the press (if any actually turn up) will get plenty of action shots from the "new" riders and any portrait shots they need from the six riders, before the Practice part of the day starts. As far as the "Meet the Riders," most fans know Stevie anyway and will only be missing out on one new rider (Simon), so it's not going to be the end of civilization as we know it.

They will prob do the "Press" bit, then head to Sheffield.

Ben Fund Bonanza 2019
StevePark replied to Al Stewart's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Not exclusively. There is a collection at every track towards the end of the season (usually August) and throughout the year, you can donate to the Fund at any time, either using the donate button on the SRBF Ben Fund website, or by sending them a cheque (for those who still use them!). -
When team racesuits are made for each rider, all their individual sponsors go on to that individuals racesuit.

Sell me your team to Support
StevePark replied to DitchLev's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Considering most of the Championship riders ride in the Premiership, prices should be pretty close. -
I ain't got any issues - seeing as I'm a Diamonds fan.....

I would stay clear of her for a while if I was you, with comments like that!!!!

I take it from that, you know how much the Staggs Bar have put in? Not only that, don't forget the "Partnership" Sponsors, which lessen the load on the Main Team Sponsor.

I remember a few seasons a go, Simon guested for us at Brough, fairly late on in the season. He got clobbered the night before and was very battered and bruised, but rode for us anyway, because he knew we were desperate. You can't fault the lads commitment, but Brough is not one of his favourite tracks and would be in the main body of the team and I think he is a reserve at best these days. Mason Campton has said on Facebook, we should give Josh MacDonald a go. The trouble with that is, he would have to hit the ground running. He'd be in the main body of the team and won't have seen many of the away tracks, let alone Brough. As mentioned above, Carl Wilkinson would come into the reckoning, simply by the numbers game and again would come in to the main body of the side. He'd (obviously) give 100%, but is he just a decent reserve these days? On balance I would personally go for MacDonald. I think he'd become an asset and might just be the next good thing out of Oz. There is only one way to find that out and take a 'gamble' on him. There would be little lost if it didn't work out, for either party.
