  1. You are allowed to declare a number 8 in any match that you are using Rider Replacement, whether it's a single match or double header.
  2. The PL play-offs are on a group/league basis, so I presume it's the same system as used in PL matches (so 3 points for a narrow away win, 2 points for a draw, 4 points for a big away win, etc.).
  3. I was believing you...... but you spoilt it by claiming you bought tea!!! LOL!! In answer to the question - it's all relative. £1 a race (at £15 admission obviously). You have to travel (either home or away), but you don't have to buy a programme/race day magazine, food or drink, so you can keep the costs down there.
  4. Rather than pay for Somerset to come TWICE, a double header is the sensible option. Potentially, Newcastle have 7 matches left at home (2 play-offs, 2 semi finals, a play off final and 2 other finals) in the 5 weeks left of the season. So another double header before the end of the season might be on the cards.
  5. Booking in advance online via the Newcastle website for the Brough Park double-header, would mean a discount of £1 per person. Not much I grant you, but as Tesco would say "every little helps."
  6. Or scrap the Rider Replacement rule altogether and just have a guest (or guests) so that we are guaranteed 7v7 man teams. That, though, would mean extra outlay to book and pay the guests and also limit the potential extra earnings of your own riders.
  7. They haven't got an air fence, so that question is rather incidental and hypothetical, isn't it?
  8. What was said by Keith Denham (according to updates he was discussing the future of Workington speedway on the rugby pitch)? Edit: Just read on the 'Comets in Trouble' thread the answer to the above!!!
  9. I'm afraid that's all it says on the updates, so we will have to wait!
  10. According to updates, Keith Denham is on the Centre Green (aka the Rugby pitch!) talking about the future of Workington Speedway.
  11. .... and watch the fans completely dissappear.... In other words have meaningless challenge matches and individual events, which supporters don't want. Mix it with sidecars and/or short track.... that'll be like Australia then. Speedway DOES need to change, but for heavens sake, change it for the better.
  12. Top have first pick. 2nd place have second pick, top then pick next, leaving the runner up with whoever is left.
  13. Agree with the first part of your post. Perhaps they should be asking those who don't attend anymore, why they choose not to go. Providing their answers are honest and genuine, then maybe things could change to get them back and Workington Speedway wouldn't be in the situation it finds itself in. The thing is though, there almost certainly isn't a quick fix, as I'm sure the problem is more deep rooted and doesn't only lie on the West coast, but with speedway in general.
  14. If I had the finances, yes I would. It's the way that he's gone about it worries me. People keep saying "how come he's such a great businessman with Thomas Armstrong and not Workington Speedway?" Running a business like Armstrong's and running a sporting business (whichever sport that may be) are completely different. It has become apparent (at least to me), Keith hasn't learnt that since he took over.
  15. So why has he threatened to do so? And, according to some "if all you have is negatative comments" then people shouldn't say anything? I thought that was the whole point of an open forum. People have an opinion and they are quite entitiled to put their opinion on here.
  16. Yes. As long as it's run before the season is over no fine would be implemented. It has happened in the past where league fixtures were raced after the deadline for Young Shield qualification and the like.
  17. The deadline for completing PL fixtures towards the Play-offs is Midnight Sat 22 Sept. You can still run a PL fixture after that, but as someone above says, that would count towards final league position only. I would guess if the Workington v Berwick fixture isn't run, Worky would be fined for not fulfilling their fixtures.
  18. George (English) has just tweeted to say Ludo has declared himself fit to ride at Somerset tomorrow.
  19. Really? No mention from Mr Denham about the money he has lost by very late postponements, when, in one case in particular, all he had to do was listen to an experienced rider (and visiting captain) to try and salvage the meeting. Feel sorry for the Worky fans, riders and Jacko. I used to love my trips over to Workington. Let's hope someone can come in and take over and run the show properly.
  20. Paul Starke for Steve. Mason Campton in for Monarchs. See here:- http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100081
  21. Knee injury (according to his Tweets on Twitter).
