Alden has quit British Speedway apparently. -
Mark Lemon doesn't seem to be doing too badly with Australia! Is it just a massive co-incidence that the Cricket team appear to be doing "not too badly" with the limited foriegners in the County sides rule, while the Speedway team and the Football team (with all the foriegners in the leagues) are doing "relatively crap"?

Apart from on the 25th July, obviously!

Speedway On Itv The Motorbike Show

Any TV coverage can only be a good thing. However small. The fact is some may be watching who won't neccesarily be speedway fans, see it on the prog and say "Hey, I fancy seeing that" and go along to their nearest track. As a certain supermarket says in their TV ad's "Every little helps." Oh, and one other thing, it's basically a FREE advert, as speedway probably hasn't had to pay a penny for the exposure. -
Sheffield can't be any worse than last year..... can they??? Lawson usually does OK now he's got the hang of the place. Haines is usually OK too. Ricky Wells has been indifferent, from memory. Hally has never really liked the place, Albin was awful (!) last time he rode at Brough, Koppe could be anything and Royno had his best meeting he's had round our place last time he was here. Should be an easy home win, but 5+ points win would do! (Don't know why, but my Enter button isn't working on the Forum!!! So I can't break this down into paragraphs like I would normally do!!).

Speedway Star - Point Of View
StevePark replied to tigerowl's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Advertising is all well and good, but costs (in the main) an awful lot of money. Something the sport hasn't got a lot of at the moment. Yes it might work, but is a hell of a gamble in the current climate (unless it's free, of course). The best form of advertisment is speedway on the Tele. When Sky started to broadcast the sport, it was supposed to be the saviour of the sport, with fans queueing for miles to get into their local tracks! It didn't happen. Putting something extra on at tracks, again, in the main, costs money. Again I refer you to the first paragraph. Yes, the sport is dying on its a**e, but the sport deoesn't help itself by not trying to keep the fans it has already got. Until the people 'in charge' actually start listening to the fans, it will continue to die, as it will lose more and more of its current fanbase and, obviously, not get the new numbers in to compensate, eventually dying altogether. -

What's that saying???? Something about "monkeys" and "peanuts"???? -
To accuse a rider of 'not trying his hardest' is a very strong one to make (especially if you weren't there). Perhaps you should have said "done better." ?

It's baffling me too!! According to the BSPA site he's still on a 3.00 in July!!! I'll ask George tomorrow and find out (unless someone knows before then and puts it on here!!).

Rebels V Diamonds Fri 28th June
StevePark replied to rustyre bel1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We were awful, in general, last night. Great race between Tully and Doyle, good debut from Schrammy, Lewi and Christian doing what they ought to, but others were disappointing last night. Ludde, I believe, is burnt out by riding here, there and everywhere and it's showing (could be wrong, of course). A chance to 'bounce back' on Sunday against Rye, where we MUST pick up all 3 points. Best wishes to Kyle, although I'm pleased to say he has posted on Facebook he might be back next week. Also Alex Davies is one lucky lad. Glad he escaped any serious injury (or indeed worse). -
Argh! Right! Misunderstood! Don't really follow the EL, so don't really know who rides for who! Only follow the Diamonds riders when they ride in it!
-
So what is the situatiion regarding, say, Newcastle? Richie Worrall, Stu Robson and Ludvig Lindgren are all riding in the EL! As far as the Steady situation is concerned (Get well soon), as has already been pointed out, they can go with guests for the rest of the season if they want, but bringing in guests every week can be costly, for a start, and isn't the ideal situation (according to many of those who've had to do it in the past), so perhaps a new number 1 may be the way to go. Who that will be is anyones guess. Ricky Ashworth seems the obvious choice (although I've no idea how fit/close to fit he is), if he's not going to go back into the Berwick line-up, but would he want to go back to Owlerton?
