Now the fixtures have been announced.....
Having to go to Plymouth as a one off again.
It's not rocket science! Either go to Plymouth on a Friday and then go to Rye House on the Saturday, or, alternatively, Somerset on a Friday and, now they have extra dates allowed, go to Plymouth on the Saturday.
It's a pain in the do-dah, but if you go to the BSPA website and go onto the Fixtures drop down and go in to the month-by-month pages, you will get the fixtures for all team (inc., Berwick, obviously).
Who mentioned "full throttle tracks"?
You can race harder on a small "trick track" too.
A lot of the time, track prep is down to the weather conditions leading up to a meeting. If the track is used for Stock Cars, that can play a big part too.
More often than not, it depends on the conditions/weather etc., to how often a track is graded.
Of course it can also be used as a 'time wasting' tactic as well.
There was a great piece in one of the monthly speedway mags about the making of the film (It may have been an interview with Bill Owen). Some of the action scenes were done in a studio where they built a bit of track (a straight and a bend, I think) to film some of the close-ups.
I can't remember which (real speedway) rider it was, but in one of the scenes he came a cropper and broke a leg.
Are you talking about the pies from the Burger van (1st bend) though? Or are you talking about the pies from the 'hut' on the 3rd/4th bend?
The pies from the 'hut' are fantastic. All filling, little crust and very, very more-ish.
How do you know they (or their representative) weren't?
Of course (before anyone else jumps on it!), there are people who can't get to the tracks, for instance those in ill health etc.
But for those who can, then I agree with you entirely.
The "09066" number used to be the Speedway Club Call, which was an information line (when clubs could be bothered to update it) concerning the individual clubs (each club had their own number).
