Which Riders Will Miss Out?
StevePark replied to skoobie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
He guested for us (Newcastle) at reserve and scored 15+1 against Redcar in August 2012 in a 54-39 win. -
Just a quick random selection, but it just goes to prove, whatever they do, they will be doing it 'wrong' in some peoples eyes. They might go down the Scunthorpe route, £1 for two sheets of A4 stapled together, with the racecard in the middle, a couple of adverts, a write-up by Rob G and the Fixtures/Results on the back? They may do what the likes of Newcastle do, a proper 'Magazine' for £2.50, in full colour, packed full of write-ups (George English, Rantin' Roy etc.), Stats page, a 'Spot the Difference' etc., etc. But, as I say, whatever route they go down, it'll be wrong. All they are trying to do is 'freshen it up a bit.' New broom and all that. Good luck them, I hope it's a roaring success.

Sorry! I was replying to your post which was in reply to yoda who said "I do believe it's up to the cluibs...." to which you agreed! But I'm in agreement with you, it's should be up to the riders not club.
-
Are they not Self-employed sportsmen though? If so, it should be down to the rider first and foremost should it not? It should then be up to the clubs to check everything is in place?

The night before (the away leg at Loomer Road), will forever live in the memory. The Diamonds scored more at Stoke than they did in the Second leg (!) and the planned 2 Stoke coaches to Brough were cancelled (one may have ran, not 100% sure). Also the many Newcastle fans that had travelled down literally drank the bar dry!!

Barry Wallace used to do Newcastle Utd and Newcastle Speedway. -
Annoy people, usually!
-
If I want to continue to be in the pits in 2014, I have to be!!!
-
No. Just don't want to be seen to be favouring one particular rider. I'll just say they are all my favourite riders!!
-
I'll stay out of that one. I don't want to be beaten up in the pits this season!
-
Joe Owen. Simply just about unbeatable round Brough Park.

Advice On Tactical Rides/substitutes.
StevePark replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
First tactical for double points when 10 or more down. Second (and final) tactical when 12 or more down. Either have to be done after 4 heats and before heat 13. -
How quickly a meeting is run, sometimes, is out of the referees hands though. Seeing as this is a Berwick thread, waiting for a County Ambulance to arrive (something that happened on a few occasions last season at Shielfield), for instance, is totally out of the refs hands. That's what I meant by your statement being 'generally sweeping' (and we aren't talking Curling here! ).
-
That's one heck of a general sweeping statement, though, isn't it?
-
Because people might want to stay at home and watch it on TV? Same as a World Cup football match, etc.

As far as I'm aware it'll be: Practice Sunday 16th. March. Press & Practice Monday 17th. March.

Depends on the various Visa situations now, I guess, as all 1-7's are filled. -
Don't think it is his use of English, it will be how it's been translated (could be wrong, but I'm guessing it's written in Swedish) as Ludde's English is better than some English peoples I know!
-
Just don't pick them.
-
... And this season there could be even more guest appearances than normal and the picks could be important (especially for away fixtures), as these could play a big part in the final shake-up.

Gary Stead Interview In The Ss.

Newcastle had Joe Owen as manager in 1987. So it wouldn't be the first time it's happened. -
Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?
StevePark replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There's been quite a few down the years! Sean Wilson being one! Another was Alan Mogridge...... then I interviewed him after the Fours at Workington for the GRTMedia DVD, in one of his last meetings before retiring...... I nearly apologised to him half way through the interview, as he was a thoroughly nice bloke to interview (unlike some!!). -
Copied and pasted from the BSPA site page: "Doyle, who has fallen foul of visa regulations this winter, may still be able to ride in the UK this year via a temporary Tier 5 visa – but that could limit him to racing for just one club. That would see him line up for Elite League Leicester". For those who can access the link: http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.23734
