  1. Do you include Ben Barker and Craig Cook in that remark?
  2. And how many times have we seen a tractor 'breakdown' so that repairs can be made to a bike? Some promoters are aware if meetings are 'dragging on,' but some appear to be oblivious to it (my memories of how long a Stoke meeting would last when they were in the PL spring instantly to mind! I don't know if this is still the case now they are NL). We need all promoters to be singing from the same Hymn sheet, as it were, maybe a fine if a meeting runs longer than a specified time (like the slow over rate in cricket), would cut down on over long meetings? Barring major incidents, I can't see why a meeting can't last less than 2 hours.
  3. I've seen one or two of our four-legged friends at Brough, so it doesn't appear a problem. Not sure about away tracks though, so it might be best to contact the track you intend visiting beforehand to make sure.
  4. I intend to go to this one, but hoping the weather forecast is going to improve for Saturday. Above team line-up could be wrong, as Robbo had No.3 and Lewi No.4 Race-jackets on at P&P.
  5. If it's a reserve swap, you have no idea until it's announced. Although they may (the majority) look good, I'm for individual kevlars (mainly for the above reason, but other reasons too). Just my preference.
  6. You'd have to ask the person who decided to play it. It can be read both ways, either they hadn't a clue about the lyrics and just thought "This is a good song, I'll play it," OR they knew exactly what they were doing and had a smerk on their face while it played.
  7. "Peterborough Speedway Play the Rolling Stones"? What average does Mick Jagger have? Can only see a massive home win in this one!
  8. It's not that long ago Boxall was a PL No.1, so not that much of a surprise, if he's on decent machinery. I wouldn't read too much into this result. Rye were probably strengthened by Bunyan's absence (still don't understand how a team can sign somebody and use R/R in official competitions, knowing he'd be missing) and riders are still 'blowing the cobwebs away.' It's just that Rye, apparently, blew them away quicker than the Panthers. Still a long way to go until September/October!
  9. I don't know if the rule is still in place, but it used to be against the rules to run a 'meeting' or even have races during an interval. The whole point of an Interval is to allow track work and while that is going on a chance for the track staff and fans to get a bit of food/cup of tea/take a 'natural' break etc.
  10. Seeing as it was Sky who picked the date (therefore knowing, when told, that Ludde would be missing), they, I would hope, would pay the fine.
  11. That's a bit harsh....... on Arthur Daley!
  12. I'm guessing they are awaiting it to be 'rubber stamped' be the BSPA?
  13. Actually, I wasn't having a 'pop' at Matt Ford (or anyone else), I was actually having a 'pop' at the rulebook.
  14. Apart from this year when every EL team will have NL reserves, so they (the NL) must be doing something right?
  15. Someone has to, as the current promotion have not had promoting experience, so a known Promoter has to go in to oversee things (similar to when Neil and David helped out at Leicester when they first started up again).
  16. Until the rule book is made crystal clear, with no grey areas, Matt Ford (and anyone else), will exploit those rules to the enth degree.
  17. It is, indeed, he! Date of Birth is 27/09/79
  18. I'm pretty sure Ned will be riding in (at least) Denmark in 2014, so technically hasn't left the sport to 'make a comback.'
  19. Which is why I think every track should have two ambulances in attendance.
  20. No!!! There are too many in the PL and EL as it is!
  21. Not sure about the 'awful track' quote (BuckTaylor64). Yes few fans went there, which is why it eventually had to close, despite the terrific efforts of the Meakins'. I have to say, I always enjoyed my trips to Carmarthen, supporting the Newcaslte Gems and the Individual Meeting they held after the GP at Cardiff. The Promotion even found the time to come across and say "Thank you for coming." A few promotions could take a leaf out of that book, in my opinion.
  22. Watching Facu Albin round Glasgow could be 'fun', though!!
