  1. The alternative is to see more teams go the wall. You want that do you? No, of course you don't, but no play-off = more teams possibly going out of business. To me, there's no choice between the two, whether you like it or not.
  2. Some details have been announced on the Diamonds website concerning this. Not sure about Ryan Fisher, though? http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100308
  3. More details announced here: http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100308 Not sure about Ryan Fisher though?
  4. That's 'original'! Seriously though, glad to hear both are not badly injured.
  5. Maybe this link may help? http://www.owzatgames.com/c/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=95&products_id=644&zenid=vi24dmm0gpjk7uq8kbh63fmsr7
  6. You might be, but the rest of us are in the 21st Century!
  7. Well, obviously, if it's still raining the covers aren't a whole lot of good! The whole point of the covers is, they are on the track during the day (for a 'normal' meeting) if rain is forecast and removed when the rain stops, before the meeting starts, therefore saving the meeting. Whether Berwick had covers or not, the FIM meeting was going to be an obvious washout, due to the persistant rain.
  8. I believe it is a continuous ongoing thing. Joe would be one of the many obvious choices to be inducted.
  9. A make fans pay out even more hard earned cash for the extra it would cost to travel to those tracks to see their team 'at home'?
  10. Thought I'd get this up and running early, after the announcement this morning. A chance to see Kingy vs Cookie Part 2 on Kingy's home track!! http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100307
  11. I for one, am well aware of that fact, but, the original PL fixture is still on 'our (English)' Bank Holiday Monday on the 25th., so a Double Header shouldn't make too much difference to travelling support.
  12. Glasgow have just Tweeted that tonights leg at Brough has also been called off. Confirmed on Diamonds website: http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100306
  13. I don't think the name has anything to do with it, personally. You say Wimbledon, then say 3 names (including London) which haven't survived. When was the last time Wimbledon had a proper team in a league? I know it's splitting hairs, but why didn't the likes of New Cross, Hackney, Harringay etc., etc., survive? I don't think it's because of their names.
  14. The only doubt the Diamonds would have, I would guess, is Lewi K. He rode in the Fours on Sunday, but has missed a King's Lynn EL meeting this week.
  15. The trouble is though, there are many alternatives in a big city like Newcastle, where people can spend their available income. Football, Rugby, Basketball and just down the road, Cricket, to name just 4 sporting alternatives, all vying for punters hard earned and that is just the sporting ones.
  16. Unbeaten for how long? I think that makes them the best.
  17. Roy Clarke (don't forget "Lightening.... ) I know I'm probably biased, but I prefered Andrew Dalby.
  18. The SPL in Scotland is split into two halves towards the end of the season, but it is still the team with the most points who win the League.
  19. The whole league(s) would have voted on it and the majority voted in favour of bringing them in, I would have thought.
  20. I still think it's madness doing both legs on the same day (always said it, even when we used to do it a few years ago). I did it once (not me driving, a certain ex-centre green announcer was!), when the Diamonds were at Ashfield and 'raced' back for a Gems meeting against Wimbledon and it wasn't really fun, if I'm honest. Just hope nothing happens during the first meeting, or on the journey down. I'll still be amazed if we start the second leg at 7.30pm even without hold-ups in the 1st leg.
  21. The whole point of Play-offs is extra income. If you seed the top team straight through to a final and have the next four teams in semis and a final the winners of those semis would get extra income from two home matches more than the team finishing top.
  22. Berwick must have agreed to the fixture list though, surely?
