  1. We had 18 heats in 1993. It lasted that one season. All I'm saying is, I guess, many think we are paying too much already and it's my belief that if we went to 18 heats and they put the admission up (which they almost certainly would do) it would drive even more fans away from the sport and the sport simply can't afford that to happen.
  2. And the first thing to happen will be the admission going up by a couple of quid or more, to pay for the extra points money that will have to be dished out.
  3. How many times do you reckon Robbo Fell this season?
  4. I doubt you will anything before the AGM (I could be wrong of course, just my opinion, as usual). There is a Race Night at the PTE Club scheduled for Monday 17th November, when George will outline the new rules (if any!) for the 2015 season. We might hear something then (or we might not!).
  5. If you include Chris Mills in Newcastle's 1-7, at the end of the season we only had 2 non-Brits (Ludvig Lindgren and Simon Neilsen). At the start of the season we also had Christian Henry and Anton Rosen in the team (2 non-Brits), so a bit of swings and roundabouts! My own personal view is, at least one of the reserves should be British and possibly limit the amount of non-Brits in the 1-5.
  6. Tom Owen, Ron Henderson, Brian Havelock, Robbie Blackadder, Joe Owen, Mike Watkin, Tim Swales. Phil Michelides came in about the time Mike Watkin was injured. *Just to add, my first match I saw at Brough was vs Stoke, Mon 14 Jul '75 (Won 44-34). I'd seen 1 meeting in 1973 and 2 meetings in 1974 at Holker Street, Barrow. Tom & Joe had ridden for Barrow and were the only reasons I wanted to go to Brough!*
  7. Nope! First meeting at Brough for me was 1975! (I was 12!!)
  8. Re King's Lynn: Lewis Rose will stay at reserve, but Lewi Kerr will be in the top 5 (if either/both are retained, obviously). Re Simon Neilsen: If he "did nothing wrong" why wouldn't you want him back? I personally would like to see Lewis R and Simon N at resreve at the start of next season. Both will improve (in my opinion) next season, especially if they are starting in the 6 & 7 berths.
  9. Yes he is. Average would prob be near (or poss over) 11.00
  10. If I recall correctly, he went for scans very shortly afterwards, which showed the extent of his injuries.
  11. They were KOC matches which don't count towards the averages
  12. Robbo said on Sunday night that he wants to be back at Newcastle next season.
  13. A few PL clubs build to a (limited?) budget (Rye House being a prime example) and fans of those types of clubs say "we are a poor team" even before a wheel is turned. But they will have speedway to watch there, so long as the likes of Len Silver want to continue, or someone else steps in to run the club. Some Newcastle fans wanted "an out-and-out Number One" and the promotion went out and got, who they hoped, would be that man and yet fans were still not happy (OK, this mainly due to the Robert Lambert situation. But by bringing Danny King in, it meant a 3 pointer coming in as well and two riders being released). As you well know, you can't have it both ways. As far as loyalty is concerned, I don't think there is a lot of it about nowadays, unfortunately.
  14. Surely a rider can't pick and choose which meetings he rides in???? ........... Oh, wait a minute......
  15. To be honest, saying it was boring (maybe it was on that occasion) after only seeing one meeing there, is a bit harsh. If you'd gone, say, 8 times and saw 8 'boring' meetings, then, yes, you'd have a valid point. All I'm saying is that you can't really judge a track if you've only been the once.
  16. Thet don't come around that often though. It's only 2 years ago we 'unearthed' Lewi K, so to expect another might be asking a bit much. Not impossible though. It's similar to all the top notch Danes we were getting in. It had to end eventually and did. The worrying thing is, we don't have too many of our own assets to call on, so will be forking out Loan fees. I'd say bring in a 7 pointer and get another asset on the books and hope they aren't a Konopka or Palovaara.
  17. And the away fans, many of whom won't be travelling this week, despite making the (part) journey last week.
