He'd been on the road from 5am, so can be excused scoring just the 2 points (was also excluded from heat 8 for 'delaying the start'). I think, once he gets dialled in to the place, he'll be fine. He certainly wants to do well.

The Ref put the red lights on as the riders crossed the start/finish line at the start of lap 3, presumably so that he could then award the race.

The bike went over the fence into the 'no man's land' and was pretty bent with the front-end pushed back.
