  1. Oliver Greenwood guests in place of Simon Nielsen at reserve tonight
  2. That's what I believe too. Christian Henry was suffering from flu the other week, so might not be fully recovered (?). Perhaps this will explain the above: http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100397 The upshot from last night was that we had too many last places or non-scoring heats (falls, EF's etc.). Berwick had two all night (Barker's fall and exclusion and Doolan's last place in heat 15). At least we saw some overtaking last night, but that has to be the poorest attendance I have ever seen at Shielfield.
  3. Simon Nielsen #8⃣2⃣ ‏@Nielsen_Racing 39m39 minutes ago Sorry to be watching the update tonight but need some rest after the crash. Let's win
  4. No. Call off has to be before heat 10 is completed for refund on another match.
  5. Rafal Konopka replaces Simon Nielsen according to Bandits Facebook page
  6. In some respects (and I'm not being funny here) it shouldn't be the fans 'job'. Either that, or the title of 'promoter' should be changed. There are too many 'promoters' with their heads in the sand (to paraphrase Nigel Pearson!) as to the problems facing the sport. The last few AGM's have shown that. ** Perhaps a new thread should be started, as this has little to do with the meeting coming up on Saturday!
  7. It's not only that, though. It's getting them to come back, there also in-lies the problem.
  8. Trouble is I'm only 60 miles down the road (Newcastle) and nearly went up for the match against Workington, but for 2 of the above reasons, decided not to spend the approx £30 it would cost me (fuel, admission and Prog). How many others (who are considerably nearer) are put off by similar reasons? I have a lot of time for John and Dennis, but something has to be done (not just at Berwick, mind you, but in speedway in general) to try and attract more people through the gates (obvious statement I know!) before (providing that it isn't already) it's too late.
  9. Just tried them both and neither link works (for me)?
  10. Most things are quite easy to predict: 1) Boring follow-the-leader 'racing' with little/no overtaking 2) Having to listen to that idiot with a mic on the centre green, making jokes that only he finds funny, 3) (Hopefully no serious injuries and) have to wait for a County Ambulance because there is only 1 Paramedic or Doctor on duty 4) Despite all of the above (and possible home win) I'll still be there!!!
  11. The handlebars snapped (completly sheared on the throttle side) therefore the cut-off didn't come out as it would do normally. On the downside, another meeting that lasted 2 and a half hours. Thankfully no sun delay, otherwise we could have been still there!
  12. Overcast, but dry. Forecast is for no rain at all today (which makes a change for a Sunday!).
  13. There isn't enough 'decent enough' riders to go round, that's why you have riders riding for more than one club.
  14. It's common sense (a phrase not often heard within speedway) that Lewis should be able to ride for the Diamonds tonight, though, is it not?
  15. Now that Coventry v Swindon is off, can Lewis Rose not ride for the Diamonds now?
  16. What really gets my 'goat' is when there is perhaps a sun-delay of 15-20 mins a couple of crashes and a fence repair and some clubs still insist on having an interval! It's annoying when it happens at home meetings (for the home fans), but worse when it happens away from home (therefore for the away fans!) when you might have a 4 or 5 hour drive home and you're leaving at something like 9.30pm to get home maybe 1-2am.
  17. And wave at the pits as they make their way to the middle of the dog track..... At Workington, they have a 'proper' parade and do a lap on their bikes minus helmets, but riders aren't allowed to do any practice starts. I think a 'proper' parade with bikes should be made mandatory, unless there is a threat of rain, then just 'get on with it.' Also think clubs should be fined if the first heat starts late. At Berwick for example - 6.50pm parade - first heat 7pm. At Newcastle - 6.20pm parade - first heat 6.30pm etc.
  18. Vissing 7.24, Kus 7.39, so you are correct.
