Eligibility has got little to do with it. The reserves may still be needed in heat 15 (eligible or not), so at least one of them should have been ready to go out. At the end of the day it comes down to being professional and Redcar have fallen short of being that on this occasion.
A reserve can replace a rider disqualified for failing the two minutes in heat 15.
At least Scunthorpe nominated two riders in heat 15 and we had four riders in heat 15 last week, unlike the farce of last night. As far as I'm concerned Redcar have brought the sport into disrepute and should be fined (unless they were last night by the meeting referee).
Yes, but Lewi was replaced by Chris Widman, the guest reserve, so at least four riders went to the tapes for heat 15. As far as I can tell, Redcar only nominated the one rider to be in heat 15 last night.
I know the late Kenny Smith called him a few names when he (Scott Smith) managed to run the battery down on the van, as he had hooked up the fridge with cans of booze in it and after the meeting, when he went to start it, Kenny realised the battery was flat as he couldn't start it!!
It was the same at Brough Park when they guested for Ipswich last Sunday against Newcastle. They scored 1 point each (Wallinger beat Rutherford in heat 2) and Rutherford's point was for finishing third in a three rider race (Palovaara excluded in heat 6).
