BUT.... Dimitri Berge and Luke Chessell join the Bandits!!
Copied and Pasted from Facebook:
It's with great pleasure we can announce to you tonight that we are 2 steps closer to completing our lineup that will do battle in the 2017 SGB Championship!
Please give a warm welcome to Dimitri Berge and Luke Chessell, both riders make there debut for the Berwick Bandits in our 50th great season!
Dimitri Berge becomes the second super talented Frenchman to proudly wear the Bandits colours in recent memory. Dimitri is a Shielfield park track specialist with the Speedway world at his feet. Berge's ambition and never say die attitude promises to throw up plenty of spectacular racing in 2017!
Luke Chessell makes his SGB Championship debut with the Bandits, Luke's all action style and consistently impressive scores in the 2016 National League made him one of the most sought after number 7 position riders in the UK and are very proud to welcome Luke to the Bandits lineup.
Stay tuned in the near future for the final members representing the Berwick Bandits in 2017!
Of the rest I haven't commented on I don't really know enough about them (I've seen Connor Coles twice, once in a MDL match at Sheffield and last year when he rode at number one for Plymouth and I'm not going to judge him on that!!).
Obviously, opinions will be split, which is what it's all about. Interestingly, you haven't put Rob Shuttleworth on your list. I only say that because his name was mentioned at Brough Park by more than one person, throughout last season.
Could you name the 12 please? Very interested to find out which ones you reckon would sign and out-perform Danny.
As far as I'm aware, Connor Mountain wasn't at Brough Park on P&P day.
Anyway, what's this fixation with Connor Mountain?
According to the BSPA AGM press release "And in a bid to help young riders get team spots, any rider who hasn’t achieved a three-point average will come in on a minimum of 2." Danny achieved 1.73, so should be a 2.00.
Nicki P, Malcolm Hogg, Brent Werner, Jesper Olsen, Stu Swales, Jonny Swales, Steven Jones (just 4 matches), James Birkinshaw, David McAllan (10 matches), Chris Readshaw (3 matches).
Jake Knight was in the Sheffield declared 1-7 at the start of the 2013 season, but failed to achieve a 3.00 average. Not sure what figure he actually ended up on.
