I think SiS is part owned by William Hill (and Labrokes, among others), so don't what difference it will make. Edited for the Wiki link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_Information_Services

Great to see that one of the British Semi Finals will be held at Brough Park. The date is still to be confirmed (The final is at Belle Vue on 19th June).

Often easier said than done, though Gav. How often have we seen a rider get injured and there is few or no options available as a replacement and if they are available, they don't want to sign (for whatever reason)?

What happens when you've already got 2 2pointers at reserve, like Newcastle have?

I'd agree to that if both teams were going to be using R/R. But, under your idea (if I read it correctly, you want to scrap R/R altogether), if say the away team is missing their second in the averages it would be even more of a handicap having to put in an NL 2 pointer. We had something similar at Newcastle last season when Connor Coles rode at number 1 for Plymouth and (no offence to Connor) it ruined it as a match.

I hadn't seen it anywhere, or at least, if I had, then I've forgotten!
-
I'd presume the week before the Berwick matches so Sunday 19th March for Practice and 20th March for P&P.

And the answer/alternative is?

Copied and pasted from Redcar Facebook page: Bears opening fixture confirmed! The S.G. Petch Bears can finally confirm their opening fixtures of 2017 with the news that they will open the season on Thursday 30th March with the 'Julie Lewis Memorial' Meeting to be followed by a challenge match on the 6th April against a select side with a major ex Bears connection. The full details of the meetings have yet to be finalised but the memorial meeting will return to it being a ' senior' rider event with all the 2017 Bears appearing and invitations being sent to other unattached riders who may wish to remind teams of their availability. As Redcar have been unable to set up a two legged challenge fixture with another championship club it's been decided to put a select side together and hope to include primarily ex Bears riders which should make for some interesting comparisons with the new look Bears team.

Launched in 2014, the North of England Speedway Launch was an idea by the late Bob Tasker (GRT Media) and it has happened every year since.

I know it's a different league, but Newcastle (in the SGB Championship) have brought back 6 of last season's 7 for 2017. Similarly, Scunthorpe are bringing back the whole 7 who finished 2016! So it does happen occasionally!!

Fixtures update (kind of!): https://twitter.com/SpeedwayGB/status/829613009966419968

It goes down to the league that the owning club rides in (in the example you give, Workington would have first choice as Edinburgh ride in the Championship, along with Workington). I haven't seen anywhere (yet), what happens in the end of season play-offs, but I'm presuming it will be the same as throughout the season, so see above! Unless they decide a rider rides for the home team in both legs, which would make even more of a mockery of the whole thing!!

Copied and Pasted from the Daily Mail web page under the story "Sky Sports vs BT Sport: As the broadcast rights battle intensifies we bring you the full guide to who will be showing which sports" MOTORSPORT Sky Sports hold the rights to show live coverage from every Formula One race of the calendar until 2018 as well as GP2, GP3 and Elite League Speedway. The only slightly worrying thing is, the story is from August 2015! -
The Ben Fund Bonanza is held every year all around the country and is being 'shared about' every year. Every track has a collection every season for those who wish to donate and cannot attend the meeting at the start of the season, also, you can donate directly, as already pointed out, so ample opportunity for everyone to make a donation.

Around 40,000 fans would disagree with you.

This week's Star has George saying that we will "NOT be at home to Workington on the 23rd, with the week before (16th) being the likely date." It also says, "expect more changes to the fixture list, once clubs have liaised with each other."

Uncertainty Over Teams And Sky Tv
StevePark replied to Nobblytriers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The agreement with Sky, is that there must be at least 8 teams in the top flight. Whilst there was uncertainty over Belle Vue, Leicester and Coventry (that would leave 6 if none came to the tapes in 2017), then there was uncertainty over Sky showing speedway in 2017. Thankfully, all uncertainty about Coventry and Leicester is now over (and hopefully Belle Vue too), so Sky will continue to show speedway in 2017. -
Used a few times in the NL last season by teams.

Coventry run in 2017. Sharing with Leicester while Brandon is sorted out... http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.31780 -
They are appearing (rather slowly!) on there now. Although why it has "Border Trophy" next to the Scunthorpe away fixture on Bank Holiday Monday 29th May, is a bit of a mystery!!
