Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
StevePark replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Did Berwick try to get an opponent to race against in a challenge? Maybe they did, but couldn't get anybody to agree to the fixtures?? I don't know. I'm just playing "Devil's Advocate". -
Not always. Toronto Blue Jays won it in 1992 & 1993!!
-
Exactly, so, if (and yes I know it's a big if!!) he doesn't "cut it" with "the big boys" he will probably get replaced (IMO).
-
Technically, all matches are two legs, as the League matches have the Bonus Point up for grabs for an "aggregate" win.
-
3.59 less reduction.
-
Some (especially June/July) could be blank due to Rain-offs in the BSN & KOC. But, with only 8 teams to ride against in the CL, what do you expect? Also don't forget 3 others ride on a Friday and they are all in the North and one of them is in the same BSN Group!!
-
12+4 in 2012. I remember interviewing him before the meeting for the GRT Media DVD !!
-
Denying the fans a meeting (God knows there isn't enough to begin with) at each track and deny riders the opportunity to earn money.
-
I also find it bizarre that Poole don't want to ride in the Premiership - but have agreed to ride in its KO Cup competition!! I realise it will only be a couple (or 4) matches, but even so. The fact they've been added in to the competition is ridiculous. Try explaining it to a new fan of the sport (as if trying to explain most things that happen in the sport wouldn't be hard enough!!). It's a bit like having an English Premier League Cup competition in football and having a few EFL Championship sides in it, just to make up the numbers.

Oh dear. Is that the best you can do? 😞

I think, if I was a Monarchs fan, I'd just be glad that they can put a team together for 2025, bearing in mind how close they were to closing due to lack of track a few years back and the "increasing" worry, year on year, that this is the last season at Armadale.

But it is his (assessed) average now that counts, surely, so they should have the choice, IMO.

SGB Championship 2025 - Confirmed Signings
StevePark replied to Kerryxo's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Castagna back at Edinburgh. https://x.com/EdinMonarchs/status/1869721989771894875 -
IMO the bubble went "pop", for most, many years ago.
-
Castagna confirmed, and as Captain. https://x.com/EdinMonarchs/status/1869721989771894875

Patrick. A quick look through Google and I can't see anything after 2019, so I'm guessing he has quit??
-
What do you want them to say .... "We've signed a bit of a dud, but hey ho" ????
-
He can't be less than his original assessed average, so if he was on a 4.00 he can't drop below that, no matter how many official meetings he rode in.
-
Don't think George Congreve has a British passport either, but he was still allowed to ride NDL in the same season as Pearson. I think (could be wrong) they allowed Commonwealth riders to ride in the NDL in that year (2023), but have since reversed that decision?

He did it a few years back with Newcastle. -

Well, yes, but only if Foord was willing to be the "sacrificial lamb". Perhaps he decided it wasn't worth signing, knowing he'd be dropped, so waited until a full contact from another club was offered?
-
Yes..... but which Michael Max ??? LOL
-
The "problem" is, in my opinion, there are quite a few NDL standard riders out there, it's just proving a too bigger step up to Championship level for a lot of them. I think Newcastle tried 3, maybe 4 and none of them were ready for the Championship and I include Jack Smith in that.
