  1. Sad news indeed - RIP Chirpy!
  2. Any move to encourage the future generations of fans so that this wonderful sport may survive is to be applauded I've just had notice of my winter fuel allowance - that will cover the withdrawal of concessionary prices for 2016! But . . . . if there's any move to bring Mr Olsen back to Brandon, then you won't see me there! Now, if you'd said Mr Guglielmi . . . . .
  3. SWINDON have unveiled their season ticket details ahead of the 2016 season. The Robins are gearing up for an exciting year as they move to their new state-of-the-art stadium – and fans can now ensure they will be part of it. The club have unveiled special prices for supporters who purchase before the end of the year. Season tickets purchased prior to 31/12/2015 are priced at £210 for adults and £160 for senior citizens and students with a programme included at each home meeting, whilst season tickets for children aged 12-16 cost just £25! In 2016, prices will rise to £225 for adults, £170 for concessions and £30 for children. Season tickets will be valid for all 14 regular Elite League home fixtures whilst holders will receive rain-off text alerts for both home and away meetings and 10% off tickets for the End of Season Dinner and Dance.
  4. Very pleased to see that the name of Gary Snooks has reappeared on Bees website as Starting Marshal - an indication that he is back to full and good health again!
  5. The same country which claimed to have put men on the moon!
  6. He doesn't ride for any team in the GPs other than Team Woffinden
  7. Nigel Harrhy was at the last public meeting - I wonder if he would be involved?
  8. . . . . who runs at a rider and dives at him! Yes, that's the sign of a genuinely nice guy!
  9. Thought Bomber was well on the pace today, more so than usual, one ef, one exclusion, taken out by KK in another, never cast too far adrift like has been the custom, gating not as shabby as previous All in all, an unlucky nil points for Chris - nice words from Crumpie about Bomber as a rider and as a person Great little interview too! Always comes across as genuine, something I wouldn't say about Hancock, who seems to go out of his way to appear to be doing the right thing
  10. Sorry, I did mean to! If your change is permanent, I will also say "thank you" too!
  11. Interest in league racing has waned! Why, I wonder? Back in TGOD, we turned up at Brandon every Saturday night - except 1st one of the month - to watch the speedway Some Wednesday's as well It didn't matter whether it was league, Midland League, WCQR, Midland Riders Championship QR, East Midlands Bowl, occasional challenge match fixture filler, Brandonapolis, etc etc - we attended for each and all - the racing was the thing, together with the comradeship of fellow fans and the riders too Teams only lacked a rider through injury - real ones, too! - not because they were riding somewhere else in Europe, or in another UK league Looking back, with one bike strapped on to the back of the car, the riders were virtually all semi-pro's - even Little Boy Blue - yet were provided with a full calendar of racing throughout the week throughout the UK Perhaps we really should look back for answers on how to go forward
  12. Please please please - change your font so I and others can read it easier! Please!
  13. Send for Neville Chamberlain - he'll fly over and sort it out, waving his piece of paper
  14. You completely (conveniently?) missed the point of my post - COSTS!
  15. And the result of that will be to increase promoters' costs, so admission charges rise, so less spectators attend Aren't virtually all these top riders you refer to based abroad? So there's not only their riding fees but transport costs as well Better to have teams almost entirely made up of British-based riders who are keen to ride here, not the so-called stars from across Europe whose main interests lie elsewhere
  16. SCB STATEMENT - BEES V POOLE TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2015 BELOW is an SCB statement regarding the abandoned Coventry v Poole fixture and subsequent hearing and ACU appeal. Further to the Press Release issued on 16th July 2015 the SCB wish to advise the following. The Coventry Promotion, as was their right lodged an Appeal to the Auto-Cycle Union. Whilst preparing for the Appeal Hearing, the SCB realised that at the SCB Court’s Disciplinary Hearing, a flaw was spotted concerning the composition of the SCB Court in that it did not fully comply with the 2015 Speedway Regulations. Following internal discussions the SCB agreed with the ACU, that the Appeal Hearing should not take place and that the Appeal Fee paid by Coventry should be returned. Regarding the £3000 fine imposed by the SCB Court, at the Hearing held on Thursday 9th July should be quashed, although the fines imposed by the Meeting Referee would stand as these had been correctly imposed; the Court had merely endorsed their agreement of the Meeting Referee’s actions.
  17. Why oh why are tracks seemingly always prepared differently when Sky are in town???
  18. Congratulations to the Poole riders (and Eddie Kennett) for a fine performance in beating Bees in the semi-final It's just a pity that there is often a stench of wrong-doing when Poole are concerned - nothing to do with the riders There's no need to repeat the "questionable" actions from the Wimborne Road hierachy over the years, as they've been regularly quoted on this forum and in other media Regarding Bees, a sad end to an excellent season - clearly in the end Bees were not strong enough, but those who question Mick Horton's "inactivity" or "misjudgements" in trying to strengthen the side seem to forget that evidence has been shown that big efforts were made (Tai Woffinden, for example) and riders were either unwilling or unable to come, or were too expensive to consider (whatever fans think, books have to be balanced to survive and move forward, and the TV debacle earlier in the season against, erm, oh yes, Poole, cost Bees promoters a large amount of money) Well done, Bomber, for yet another fighting performance last night (sadly in vain this time), and a big cheer for Jason Garrity, my rider of the Bees season by a long way, for big scores home and away, and for smiling his way through the bumps and bruises he incurred (and also for the obvious improvements in his riding technique towards the end of the season) Let's hope Bees long-term future can be sorted before too long, as British speedway needs Coventry to survive, along with all other clubs whose futures may be in some doubt at present (Swindon, Scunthorpe, etc) Good wishes, of course, to Darcy Ward And good luck to Scott Nicholls and his Belle Vue team for the play-off final
  19. Personally, I'd be more concerned about the first meeting of the 2016 season
  20. Neil Watson - did you mean to say anything in post #236 ?
