  1. Was a left foot or a right foot? Was a steel shoe worn? What size footwear was it?
  2. Steve Shoveller, who amusingly spells his surname as Shovlar for a username, is totally full of what it is that he shovels Fortunately, it doesn't wind me up, I just find it all quite amusing Thank you, Shoveller!
  3. And your proof that it was premeditated is . . . . . ?
  4. Isn't this one of the developments close to the stadium? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7213307/Swindon-homeowner-claims-400-faults-Linden-Homes-property.html
  5. "Suffering with a Thursday" - I believe you suffer also with Monday nights Supports the case for UK speedway teams to operate on the best night for them Belle Vue, like Coventry, was always a Saturday night track It has to happen - it may not work, I know - but it has to be given a chance, and the goodwill has to be there, for a bigger "senior league" operating whatever nights tracks want, need, to run, and if it means some sort of rider control, like we saw years back, and we lose some riders who chase the zloty, etc., then so be it Otherwise, UK speedway will be gone
  6. Can you talk me through that one, Mr W - please! What exceeds 6.36?
  7. Are you only bothered about winning, then? Do you not attend because you enjoy the sport itself? In years gone by, it never seemed to matter that much, fans of the sport went week in, week out mainly for the love of speedway And there was possibly more attachment to individual riders rather than the teams, highlighted when the big individual meetings came around Trips down to that London for World Final, Internationale, etc were the big occasions Of course, you had to attend to see the sport, as it wasn't all over the tv and other screens then
  8. I was referring to the time of any curfew (cut-off time), not any abandonment prior to completion of heat 6
  9. I remember them at Brandon back in CO's days, but whether they remained in more recent times I'm not sure My original point remains the same, that any cut-off time should be printed on the race card part of the programme so that there can be no dispute if it comes into play
  10. I was in conversation only yesterday with an acquaintance who for many years was a member at Edgbaston and followed Warwickshire CCC home and away, particularly for the limited overs and T20 games When I asked if he still attended, he remarked that he didn't any longer, he was able to get his cricket fix on tv, he didn't have the hassle of an hour's drive each way for home games, or of sitting around for long periods because of no play due to rain or bad light - and of course the tv coverage showed multi replays, close ups, interviews etc which improved the enjoyment of matches So his money for membership, ticket, catering, etc for him and his wife was saved and put towards the cost of Sky / BT This all sounds so similar to those ex-speedway followers who now have a vast fix of the sport from their armchair instead of the terraces and stands, but it seems even worse in "our" sport as the product shown, particularly from the UK league matches, and quite often the Swedish league too, is of a quality in terms of the racing, the trackside facilities and the progress of meetings as to be very unlikely to attract new followers to attend and pay their entrance monies A small reduction in admission charges on a televised race night will not be a cure - doing away with live league matches, and perhaps replacing the air time with a weekly highlights package from around the country, properly promoted and marketed, might help, as might racing on the nights on which clubs really want to operate, and in one bigger league (although that's a different argument documented throughout the BSF)
  11. Crowds were better when it wasn't on tv as you had to attend in order to spectate the sport Tv and OOFC have killed UK speedway- with a little help from Poland!
  12. Following recent meetings being cut short due to curfews, and subsequent discussion/argument as to their validity, is it now time for a rule to be introduced that, for every meeting, a cut-off time is printed in the programme within the details of officials and riders for the meeting - then, should a curfew be necessary, there can be no misunderstanding and the spectators are well aware of the situation
  13. It happens in all team sports, not just speedway - any transferred player could play for new team against previous team (except being cup-tied, of course)
  14. So . . . how many meetings does a track have in a season?
  15. Thank goodness we have this wonderful fred - sorry, thread We should be very grateful for whoever created it It helps me in particular to get through the day
  16. To begin with, you need three stained posts Then, some official thread Mix together, and leave to cool for 4.234 days
  17. What's so strange? Most strange comments about things Poole come from you As you're out of the country, does that show that your cart dealership is an international business?
  18. Still want to get rid of Bomber, Witches fans????
