  1. Aside from Sedgeman and Bomber I've not been overly fussed with what I've seen from any of them up until now. I still think having either Thompson at reserve was a mistake as well.
  2. I'm sure I've heard talk about industrial units being built on part of Beaumont Park.
  3. You’ll forgive me if I don’t get excited about what’s now a glorified challenge match.
  4. It makes sense to use it for aggregate bonus point ties in the league or aggregate ties in the KO cup when it sort of becomes a speedway version of a penalty shoot out, but not for a standard drawn fixture.
  5. Good meeting in the end; some issues for Lions to overcome though, especially re Max not getting going properly yet. We seemed quite slow, not sure if that's down to set up or lack of dirt off the main racing line, noticed it most with Chris Harris going wide and finding nothing to drive him on. Re Belle Vue Tom Brennan found it tough going too, and after I'd waxed lyrical about him so it was probably my kiss of death. Ryan Douglas as a guest was always going to score a bucket load as he loves the track, definitely tipped the balance for the Aces in the end. I'm still not sold on the super heat, nor do I really understand the point of it. It just seems weird to not just say it was a draw, 1 point each and that's it. Why should a team get another point for essentially a scratch race when we already have an aggregate bonus anyway? It makes the league table look weird as well having a draw win and draw lose column, I had to try and explain it to some newbies tonight and it just sounded absurd.
  6. Premier League Fours at Leicester, 7th August 2011. Lions first season back, generally terrible results which culminated in the drubbing 28-62 at home to Glasgow. However on this day we were actually winning overall and Ilya "Bonky" Bondarenko was unbeaten for the Lions; it truly was a day of miracles. It had been a bit on off rain wise all day and even periods during the meeting but about 2/3rds of the way through it hammered it down, stair rods, causing them to stop racing and see if it "passed over". I think we were stood in the open for nearly an hour in unrelenting torrents of rain waiting for it to "pass over" with nary a word from anybody. The presentation staff, riders and management were nowhere to be seen, a few thousand people had taken on enough water to sink a battleship and eventually they called it off. I've never been so wet and miserable, and come the re-run in October we came second to Ipswich and Bonky never had another meeting like it.
  7. We’ve had a lot of rain lately, even better drainage would struggle.
  8. They've been ahead of the curve for years
  9. Now come on, don't we all enjoy trying not to trip up over the collapsible bollard on the footpath after a meeting and the ankle breaking jeopardy as you try and get to your car?!
  10. Would sooner have Fricke in there than both Worrall and Lawson. Otherwise not too bad.
  11. I like the idea of super heats for the aggregate bonus point or in ties in the cup for example but I do think a draw should just be a point each. I used to like the bonus point as I first came to speedway in 2006 so it was what I knew first! Top 4 playoffs out of 7 bit silly, should be leader through to final and 2 v 3 for last place. Same in both leagues, has to be a benefit to finishing top. The mini league in the championship for playoffs are ludicrous for that reason. Pairs over 3 rounds seems a bit low, could have made it 4 if 6 too long but I’m not overly exercised about that.
  12. Hopefully you can get on with them next year so the playoffs can happen quicker, eh?
  13. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/championship/cjl-final-next-spring/ Next season then as an inter league challenge. Except it won’t be as Poole will have to “strengthen” or Leicester “weaken” for it to work, so once again British Speedwsy manage to pull a turd out of the hat and not a rabbit.
  14. It took until November on someone else’s track but OK.
  15. How many times have we said that at the end of a season! Wish I had any confidence it will happen.
  16. Still think the Lions would have won at home even if not overall on the night.
  17. Well it would be, you had a home leg we didn't! Last time in the KOC SF Thompsons got 10, tonight it's 2.
  18. No, I mean we won all our home matches and a good few away, including Poole. No way would we be behind at BP on the basis of this season even if we didn't win overall.
  19. No home advantage taking it’s toll. No way would Dan Thompson have two ducks at BP.
  20. Don't worry, when Poole eventually win I'm sure the Poole fans will be on here doing their best Bjørge Lillelien saying that Leicester took one hell of a beating and how the odds were stacked against them.
  21. I suppose the question is how bad must BP be if it's being switched away. Given the sainted Buster is meant to have worked his magic and it's still not right. Is it just the rain we've had since or is it the track surface itself still?
  22. I'm especially frustrated that they aren't laying free coaches on or something. I mean given the money a lot of us have splashed out this year (in times of increasing financial uncertainty) I'm certainly not willing to use my own petrol to get somewhere nearly 2 hours away when it's meant to be at HOME. I'd be willing to go as well but not effort on the part of the club or the BSPA to help on what will be a very long day for most fans.
