  1. We got there at 11:20 and queue was down to the end of the slope/railings. 2 women in the centre entrance looking at an ever lengthening Queue someone at the front said they were going to open They then had to sort money and programmes etc and put a roll in the till. All things that could've been done far earlier. Delay to start of the meeting needs to be 15minutes at the most unless there's major traffic problems in the area. Start times advertised so people shouldn't moan though they will Racing was OK I've seen far worst meetings Maybe they could put a sandwich board 20yards from the entrances saying what entrance fees are then people might fish about and have the right money ready
  2. Surely Netball has similarities to football in that back in the day all girls played netball while boys played football both fairly simple games with only a small amount of equipment needed plenty of women seem to still play in local leagues or just for fun a bit of exercise and fun with your friends is good for the heart and soul
  3. TBH with all the stories of riders not being paid in all countries If I was a top notch rider I'd be saying as part of my contract that say I'm on £500 a point that the club pay £7.5K into my account 2 days before the match and the money I don't earn will be transferred back after the match
  4. Maybe before any non GB passport holders can be offered a team spot all GB passport holders should If a GB passport holder turns down a spot a form is filled in with reasons why etc that form is also put into the public arena Also have a bit of flexibility on averages EG foreign rider on a 7pt puts you dead on the limit but you can have a GB rider on 7.5 which puts you over the limit slightly but the other promoters agree to the move as it's in the best interest of British Speedway Though the majority of Aussies do have a knack of being entertainers on the track
  5. Conkers No need to apologise Many of us are grateful for your updates and those of many other posters too Along with the updates on the live updates site run by CrazySue You guys and girls provide a great service
  6. The sadly missed Newport must've been the last when they charged 50p to sit in the stand
  7. If I look back to when I first started attending in the early 70s the pattern for rainoffs changes from season to season but the common denominator is all rainoffs occur in periods of inclement weather For Championship fans (Formerly PL) this even includes Armadale with its own unique weather system
  8. Based on the Harland Cook average fiasco at IOW GH would have to come back from the dead in a century or two to get his average lowered enough to ride NL
  9. I'm quite willing to be her (non) glamorous assistant Travelling the country getting paid to watch speedway would be pretty much a dream job
  10. I haven't the foggiest why my previous quote has appeared within the post I was quoting
  11. Gives the ref's a chance to warm up their red light button technique
  12. Eurosport is in with the BT package
  13. We better not mention Swindons current record vs Oxford in the football either
  14. Is the Peter Waite who's mentioned the former Berwick promoter
  15. Best Test-Icicles post on here in a long timeSam Masters could do a Jason Doyle in the next few years. Will he who knows but IMO he's a level or two above Lawson Junior When Dickie the Gater can miss the gate at any track,in every race he starts, and entertain by racing hard but fair can he be mentioned in the same company as Les Collins Let's face it it ain't gonna happen Which means I owe you an apology because as soon as I read you're initial post I respondedLeft my initial post unedited
  16. I heard they're trying to get sponsorship off Cup a Soup for the Hardy band of volunteers
  17. IMO Leigh Adams wasn't hard and ruthless enough. Plenty good enough to be top man in numerous leagues and remain injury free. Such a shame he got a life changing injury after he'd retired.
  18. Will his monkey be buried on the centre green near the tapes
  19. My guess is probably lots of them. His job was partly to do that as all presenters do. Vast majority of riders and fans enjoy a bit of banter
  20. I would agree about John Cook he was an always expect the unexpected type of riders A race he should win at a canter he'd come nowhere. A race against 3 tough opponents he'd win and do it the hard way Lovely bloke too. I'm sure he'd laugh at my previous post about the 85 KO cup final Bobby Ott I found entertaining to watch as well I remember in a last heat decider at Oxford he fell and remounted and won the race. Now he's retired The Fish should be mentioned too IMO
  21. Must be one of the unluckiest riders injury wise. ever to have rode out of the pitgates Got some serious bottle as well to continue riding.
