Cardiff university website has an accomodation section, you contact them through this and they email you the link for booking, Cheapest rooms are shared bathroom for a couple of quid more you get ensuite Heather12 i've PM'd you . If you still follow an active team or TBH an inactive one i can pretty much bet that you know someone who stays there or has stayed there. I booked for 18 people back in 2013 and we bumped into another 20 odd from Oxford staying on the same campus

But that's the way of the world. Anywhere you go if there's a big event on prices rise. This year we booked to stay at the University again, we have stayed in numerous hotels in Cardiff in the early years and got fed up with the rip off prices, obviously at this time i don't know how we stand regarding refunds or maybe rolling the booking over to next year. Lets be honest there isn't going to be a GP in Cardiff in July unless there's some radical change in circumstances in the next 2-3 weeks. We've stayed at the university for a fair few years now, it's basic but clean and handy for getting into the City Centre. At the end of the day we're a group of blokes so it suits us down to the ground. Last year we went down the Air BnB route and we paid around £80 each and to be fair it was a nice place in Penarth and the locals in the pub around the corner gave us good advice on getting into the City Centre quickly and cheaply. We only stay in Cardiff on the saturday nowadays as make a weekend of it by going to the Pairs on the friday night and staying in the Vegas of the West, Burnham on Sea on the friday night

Had an email from Premier Inn earlier, not that i have booked with them for Cardiff weekend, They have now done away with their No Refund/Changes booking terms and now have 3 options Flex. Semi Flex and advance. Anyone with a booking on a Non Flex booking will be automatically changed to advance. This gives the option of cancellation upto 28 days beforehand and booking can be amended upto 1pm on day of arrival. Semi Flex gives option to cancel upto 3 days before and can be amended upto 1pm on arrival day. Flex can be cancelled or amended upto 1pm on day of arrival

Martin Goodwin was the other rider, he must have been made of India rubber i saw him have many a spectacular get off and he was generally ok afterwards.

Richard Juul came back a couple of seasons later, was very tentative in his first ride but after that was back on the gas, Fair play to him he's got intestinal fortitude as they used to say in the WWF.

That happened at Oxford early 80s in a challenge against an Italian touring side. One of the Italians fell and his helmet came off, they said at the time it was due to his helmet having a chin strap instead of a strap that went under his chin.

The random Speedway heat thread (no spoilers)!
Triple.H. replied to Danny Connor's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Should have been called The Don as it was at Oxford that he came of age -
I'd have no problem with a 5 or 6 round GP series behind closed doors in Poland for this season only, but lets make it really interesting and riders bring their own rolling chassis and draw lots for standard engines. Lets see who the best rider/racer there is not who has the best tuner provided trickbit.

Serious questions need asking of the site security or lack of it. How can a building be set alight in broad daylight during the current lockdown. Anyone in and around the site should stick out like a sore thumb.

One Day World Final?

Completely agree. But nobody in the media seems to be asking the question. -
One Day World Final?

You're not allowed out unless for essential work' essential shopping or medical appointments etc, a limited exercise period and must exercise social distancing, these are the Government guidelines to keep us safe. The same Government are doing very little regarding international travel into the UK. Everyday planes are flying into the country from hotspots of infection around the world such as China, Italy and USA, The passengers are not checked for infection or quarantined. -
Watched it today and found it very enjoyable, with this season looking like it may never start. Maybe it gives other promotors the opportunity totry and do a bit of promotion, now wouldnt that be novel, get some kids involved and start making their own versions for the 2021 season. I was very impressed with Peter Facenna's dignity in defeat at the final hurdle and the fact he thanked all the riders, mechanics, volunteers and fans for their efforts and help over the season

World Final Revival
Triple.H. replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bring it home and have it at Wembley -
Don't know but that opens up a minefield as if theyve signed a contract even though the season hasn't started are they still due the money. Can the promotors claim Force Majeure.

Don't teams with work permit riders have to pay a weekly/monthly retainer to those riders ?
-
When it came to rider control he always said I'm Free
-
With that name and some decent chatter he could probably get some lucrative sponsorship deals.
-
Nope
-
It is, But hat about current NZ rider Chopper Bagshaw
-
Bit wild but a good rider. With the right guidance he probably could've gone a long way in the sport. Seems to have left the sport behind, never see him mentioned in the Australian section in the Speedway Star. Many Australians who retire still seem to pop up having a spin at a meeting every now and then.

I fall into one of the high risk categories and work in people's homes everyday. My employer has allowed me to choose when to stop coming into work to protect both myself and our customers. I'm currently still working as I had some jobs booked in which fell into the S••• job category. I didn't want a colleague to have to pick them up or for the customer to end up being put off for a few days. I am reavaluating the situation daily. But can see me confined to barracks so to speak sometime next week.

Warsaw GP 2022 Saturday May 14th
Triple.H. replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Apologies If I could workout how to multiquote on my phone my post would be made more sense. I was using your post as a generalisation as a few people mentioning flights and probably lose their money for the air fare. One would hope the larger budget Airlines such as Easy jet and Ryanair would struggle through but I can see a fair few following the Flybe demise. For instance do budget airlines have the same level of cover as major airlines ? -

I would think most people have booked with budget airlines. There's a fair possibility a few of them could go under in the next 6-8 weeks -
