  1. Really enjoyed my visits to Rye House over the years from sunny sundays in the NNL, to King Cinder, then after Oxford closing going 4 or 5 times a year dependent on opposition, football and gigs
  2. Never a problem for the Swindon riders as always in the shade created by the Cheetahs/Rebels in front
  3. Yes all riders came out and rode around to be introduced and then did a flying lap, i remember Andreas Jonsson doing a particularly fast time. I bet Lucifer Sam could tell us all the times etc
  4. Ah you may be correct Steve, my memory isn't what it was either, i'm probably getting confused with the flying parade lap that Steve Purchase had going for a while
  5. When Steve Purchase took over Oxford we had proper old fashioned rider of the night 2nd halVES for a few weeks, until the powers that be said NO
  6. Re straight back to the start, i saw a video from i think Industry in California, 5 riders 1 lap dash, last rider eliminated, The 4 remaining riders straight round to the start where it continued until 2 left. Winner of the 1 lap dash matchrace picked up $100. Proves you can get riders to go straight back to the start, Also i reckon a nice way to get some easy sponsorship for a 2nd half event, bet theres a lot of one man band operations out there who would think £100 for a bit of advertising in a different way was good value
  7. I don't know how tall Sam Nickolajsen was but when he retired he became a painter and decorator and had to have a special skirtingboard ladder made for him
  8. Geographically too far north was what i heard on the grapevine, also if it was nearer the sea away fans may make a day out of it
  9. Who's Danny May ? Is he someone in a position of authority within the sport, or just a speedway fan with a grievance ?
  10. Last weeks arrived saturday and this weeks today, only had a quick browse of last weeks so now have 4 days to catch up Happy Christmas to the team at the Star and i hope next year is a helluva lot easier for you
  11. Off Topic so i apologise in advance but Richard Juul is one brave boy to have comeback from his big crash at Oxford and return there and race again
  12. i've had no post for 3 days now which is very unusual, i haven't been working locally so don't know if my normal Postie is off, but its no hardship the Star will turn up tomorrow or monday. On the plus side all the presents have been wrapped instead of me reading
  13. Thanks for the replies, i remember seeing him race at Assen, fairplay to him for making a comeback at his age after those setbacks
  14. Is the Finnish rider at 16 the one who rode years ago or his son ?
  15. Blunsdon should be packed to the rafters, then
  16. They could speak with Fore other Clubs to help Iron out the problems. Wood ent it be good to see.
  17. How long did it take them to find a Driver Boom Boom
  18. To me that reads like you suspect Pinegen have that most hated of things an Indian Callcentre
  19. Yes it would be too far for a disabled person to walk with ease. If my memory isnt playing tricks i'm sure theyve used a shuttlebus for previous big meetings at the stadium. They always use shuttlebuses for the OUFC games. Maybe with options of online booking for meetings, a parking space can be reserved at the same time with priority given to those who need it most.
  20. Needs permission off the boss before he can answer
  21. Hopefully for those driving there will still be the option of parking at Unipart. Oxford United use it as an overflow facility for sellout matches
  22. I remember hearing Danny Baker talking about the New Den and saying a Feng Shui expert had said that Millwall's poor form was due to the way the stadium was positioned and having blue seats
  23. Mine arrived today. i've had a few late deliveries over the years as in the friday instead of thursday. Since April this year i've had a lot of friday/saturday deliveries, which in the current climate i'm not going to moan at the Royal Mail about. Had one missing copy, phoned on the tuesday and the replacement arrived on the wednesday. Very tempted to go digital for my next renewal, Do my bit for the planet and more cost effective for Pinegen i should think.
  24. i'm surprised how small the pits are at Somerset, If there was a way to alter the track entrance i think they'd be good on the patch of land on the second bend.
  25. Maybe the Star would be interested in piece to print over a few issues in the winter.
