Birmingham v Poole. 1st September 2021
Triple.H. replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Went up for the called off Plymouth match earlier this year. Look for buses to Brownhills if my memory isn't playing tricks. There's a fair few that go there and a stop near the stadium both directions. As we ended up on a pub crawl in Birmingham I can't say how long the journey takes but Birmingham Bus website said approx 20 minutes. No doubt bus lanes to get through the traffic. Birmingham buses are contactless first fare is £2.10 second fare takes it to £4 which is then capped for the day -
Is Emil Right In What He Says?
Triple.H. replied to OveFundinFan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
IMO his big problem is when he was a gap chasing fence scraper, he followed his managers advice and opted out/placed less emphasis of/on the GPs. Now he's a bit older and the gaps are smaller and the fences harder, he's realised all the natural ability in the World won't keep him up with the young flyweights on rockets. -
Could be drone footage of Boris Johnsons head An overgrown area covering an unused facility

It's like the BSPL banning nomadic teams unless they're making major inroads into getting a new track. I would think keeping fans of defunct tracks interested in the sport is a good idea. When was the last time, pre Covid-19 that any team soldout the capacity of the stadium for a league or Cup match ?

Birmingham v Poole. 1st September 2021
Triple.H. replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Remember if you're travelling up that there are lots of roadworks around the stadium -
Thanks for the clarification Everyday's a schoolday

You missed the point, I said IF I had the money. I think its been proven that promoters don't, in the vast majority of cases listen to what their audience thinks or suggests. An attitude that has got so many clubs in trouble over the years. Constantly tweaking something that doesn't work very well in the hope it will create a big change.
-
IMO the 2 promoters with a licence is a stumbling block. As is the no vote for 3yrs at the AGM, if that rule still stands As for nationally agreed admission prices a total joke. Its your business charge what you want to attract an audience If I was in a position to spunk money on Speedway I reckon I could get a bigger crowd than the clowns calling the shots are managing at most tracks.
-
I'm sure I read on Facebook that Tuesdays crowd was the biggest the promotion had.
-
I'd hazard a guess that the material deteriorates due to rain and sunshine, numerous scuffs and lots of inflation and deflations, so the end result if each compartment is airtight but not strong enough to withstand a big impact.

They probably pray for the occasional dusty meeting in Denmark

I just get a message saying unsafe website Though reading the following posts the future doesn't look bright. Time for more promotions to follow the lead of Len Silver and the late Colin Hill. A decent day's pay for a decent day's work Pay your employees on time Your employees are happy as being paid and remain loyal I bet many a rider has thought the grass was greener and realised their mistake over the years. Also one of the biggest grumbles in the sport for what seems forever is too many team changes each season. Both the above named promoters tended to keep the basis of the previous seasons squad so fans were happy as continuity in the team makeup. I doubt if the riders would stay loyal to the Promoter/club if they weren't getting paid.

Because he rode on the IOW last week the BSPL have stopped him from being a meeting reserve for the British Final. -

Like I said its Farcical from the BSPL. If I was in Manchester I'd get 16 Baseball caps emblazoned with Justice for Connor Coles on them and get the riders to wear them -

Connor Coles not allowed to be a reserve as he rode on the IOW last week. Farcical from the BSPL -
I'd second that Redcar is a great racetrack, well worth a visit

Congratulations you must be the first person to manage to use the words Swindon, Posher and Middleclass in the same sentence

I'm all honesty can anyone see Swindon reopening ? As far as I know they still haven't started the Stadium rebuild and with the houses encroaching ever nearer. It's going to be a very sad day for the Towns Sporting legacy. Maybe they can find some land reasonably local on a brownfield site. Oxford have made more progress with a team of volunteers in a couple of months than Swindon have since they reshaped the track.

I've just read on Facebook that Philip Rising has sadly died after a long illness R.I.P.

BIRMINGHAM STATEMENT 8TH AUG
Triple.H. replied to Speedway fan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There is if you Start on time Get the 2 minutes on as soon as the last rider from the preceding race has gone through the pit gate Only have grading and watering after hts 4,8, and 12 then 10-15 minutes after ht15 Obviously any major crashes could affect the smooth efficient running One of the biggest problems British speedway faces is the we can't do that and that won't work attitude, -

Why not make it a D/H league match and KOC match, obviously only if they could beat their curfew if they have one -
My post was aimed at hotels etc not the great and the good of the BSPL. Lets be honesti t's not the hotels fault that the meeting has been cancelled, my suggestion was based on you have a No change no refund booking, but if you ask them nicely in the current climate thay may allow you to alter your booking. You struck lucky and got a refund
