A proper ice meeting in the UK bring it on i reckon,i think there would be a good chance of a very big crowd as people with no idea of the sport would be curious to see it. -

Had a great time Rickshaw racing in Riga on sunday night, but i suspect the riders regret saying yes to our request to take 3 passengers on one and 2 on the other, they were knackered by the time we got back to the hotel.

Tony Steele was at a forum in Oxford a few years ago and said that you did not have to exclude a rider, wether it is different in FIM meetings is another thing. -

To not enter a British team in this event is probably the most short sighted decision the SCB and BSPA have made.If they got thmselves into gear at the end of the season instead of the end of February,we could work fixtures around most meetings in Europe.Take a leaf out of the Swedish and Polish leagues sort your points limit (Not gradings)and teams out in november. The fixture list could then be worked around these type of meetings and maybe even Longtrack and Grasstrack championships. Then the big challenge is to get all promotors to agree that if meetings do have to be rearranged due to bad weather, and it happens to clash with one of these events then r/r can be used. (1) Get the fixtures out early and get the riders to commit to them. (2) Get the promotors to work as a team(i know it's probably impossible) (3) Get the management commitee to discuss any r/r or guest issues between themselves and then notify the referee and both promotors of there decision and that that decision is final.Instead of them spending an hour of the meeting arguing over who agreed what and with whom, mostly over a few hundredths of a point.

Why don't the BSPA enter teams in competitions like this?It would be good experience for younger riders to go abroad and race on different tracks. The type of riders i would consider would be of premier league heat leader and second string standard or elite league reserves.Who are on there way up the ladder not treading water so to speak. Also a round would then be held over here and the opportunity to see some riders who's names you only see on the internet and in the star would be great.I saw a round a few years ago and saw Matej Zagar for the first time, absolute quality.

I can see it now a tag team wrestling match between "Naughty" Nicki Pedersen and "Hard riding" Hans N. Andersen Vs Greg "The Hammer" Hancock and "Lightweight" Lee Richardson.

In Oxford city centre there are various official council owned poster sites for advertising gigs, nightclubs etc.I have seen plenty of A4size full colour posters advertising the mighty Silver Machine all through the summer, even seen them in some of the more tourist haunt pubs. Also there is a tourist advice centre which supplies a monthly booklet about what,s on and restaurant, bar, theatre, concerts and sporting events that month. The OSM have been in this every month with listing of all that months home matches and even made the front cover a couple of months ago.The booklet is also available from hotels and guest houses.Perhaps the only improvement that could be made on this is to try adverts in foreign languages. We get excellent coverage on BBC radio oxford including live broadcasts from some away meetings, announcements on the sports bulletins including occasional interviews. For the last couple of seasons but sadly not this, we even had a half hour show on local tv station the oxford channel which showed all the races from the previous weeks meeting, and was repeated at different times of the day over the next week.Waggy,s pyramid scheme also takes place where you bring so many people who get in free and get a free programme they get to see a race from the centre green and meet a couple of the riders, and if they comeback with 5 new people they again get free entry and so do there friends.

When i was in Slovenia for this years GP i heard they were looking to run in Singapore next year, also if my memory serves me well Kenny Roberts built a flattrack at a circuit in Spain to try and get a few Spanish people to have a go,i think it was at Jerez. If this is still there and in reasonable condition think of the crowd you would get on a saturday night when a Motogp or World superbikes was on the sunday. As for the Usa they would need to have 2 GP,s one west coast and one east coast one week apart to make it financially viable, and hopefully as the first 2 of the year before march the 15th.

Is it not about time, considering that the promotors are having a pow-wow next week to have an experiment involving 1-2 tracks per league in covering their tracks when heavy rain is forecast in the days before a meeting?I have heard all the arguments about the ground sweating but wouldn't this put the moisture in the base where it would do most good?rain will seep through the covers and make the track patchy it has got to be easier to work on a small bit of track than the whole circuit. We will never know the answers until someone does it and at the end of the day i am sure most promotors would want to run every week at the same time pretty much guaranteed, obviousley you could do nothing if it rained within 4-5 hrs before the meeting. So do you think it is worth a try?

Lukas Dryml Injury
Triple.H. replied to Chris Brown's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Surely the buck stops with GP race director a certain Mr Olsen and BSI.No meeting can start in the UK without a paramedic or doctor present,as it was a GP i would think you would need at least 1 of each present as if the Dr./paramedic needs to attend the hospital as in Lukas,s case hopefully. Then their beloved tv schedules go down the pan and they are probably more important than the riders safety. What needs to happen is all riders stick together and say we aint riding with air fences on the straights,5 riders on a narrow track and no Dr./paramedic present. If the riders stick together it will be sorted as if they refuse to ride just after the parade who will the general public believe is in the right? any speedway fan would say the riders were. -

What Are Sky TV Playing At?
Triple.H. replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
But surely if the radio waves can get through to a tv aerial they can get to a dish, afterall the dish is designed to concentrate the signal onto a certain point. So if you had a bigger dish it should work, well maybe. My own opinion is sky want dishes on the outside so people can see how popular it is,and hopefully jump on the bandwagon.Luckily for us in gridlock central i.e Oxford lots of pubs are willing to put the speedway on for GP,s and league matches. Also we have Chris Brown,s GP barbecues which seem to be very popular and with a big screen as well. So we not only have a Silver Machine but a Silver Screen as well! -
What Are Sky TV Playing At?
Triple.H. replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
What i don,t understand is why you cannot put a sky dish in your loft as you can have a tv aerial in there and i assume as a bit of a technophobe that they both receive radio waves.Plus if the dish had to be bigger because of the roof obscuring the signal it wouldn't matter because you wouldn't see it.Of course if you have a train set, scalextric or a bedroom in there you would be out of luck. -
My money is on Lukas Dryml, the track suits him and he is seriously motoring at the moment.Apparantly Mark Loram and Ryan Sullivan will ride as well,so good luck to them and hope they don,t crash. Is anyone going?i am.
