2014 European Speedway Championships

I was thinking about the crowd, do you think quite a few might have gone to Lonigo instead of Poland, not everybody can afford both and might be quite a problem getting to Lonigo from Poland. -

Great meeting in a fantastic stadium on a top class track, really enjoyed the SEC this season, PK, ES and GL for the SGP next season and get rid of some of the duff ones from the SGP. -

Looking forward to this after Wednesday when we didnt get a complete meeting, not Eurosports fault but still disappointing. -
Dont people get on your nerves, as a previous person said, its 20 to 25 minutes of actual bike noise lasting at most a couple of minutes each race. The world is full of stupid gits.

Oh thats a shame, thought he was doing better in the GPs over the last couple, hope he can get in the top 8 now. -
I must admit to being a speedway nut, started in 1973 at coventry went a couple of times and then went to Ladbrookes stadium to watch birmingham in 1974 and that was it hooked. Very depressed in 1983 when they closed down, but at least we had the Wheels to go to and a team to watch, not the great stadium we had at Perry barr but we had a team and then the news came that we wouldent run in 1986. This was the days of saturday night speedway and used to alternate between Coventry and Cradley and saw some great meetings, Cradley was a dump with one of the best tracks and saw some fantastic meeting there. Slowly started to lose a bit of interest, lots of rumours of the Brummies coming back but it didnt happen. Had a couple of seasons where I just went to all the big meeting and the world final, no matter where it was, but slowly started to get interested again, not supporting anybody but always gave a former Brummies rider a wave and cheer if they were riding where we went, couldent support anybody esle it just didnt seem right some how, Shaun Mcconnell was the last Brummie rider and we used to go to Brighton just to cheer him on, good days. I do feel losing your team gives you a better idea of the riders and some of the decisons in the meeting as you look at it from a different view, while the supporters around are shouting its not fair you stand there thinking that was the right call from the ref. Then we had the great news it was it was coming back in 2007, never thought it would happen but it did had some good seasons until the middle of 2014 and we closed again, but hopefully it will come back if the rumors are true(come on Tony). Watched the closing of too many tracks over the years some great stadiums with good tracks but never give up hope, one day you might walk through a gate and realise the track in front of you is yours and your back supporting the team you love.

I went to Kent a couple of years ago and was very impressed with the stadium, had a really enjoyable night and then drove back to Solihull, it was a nice feeling getting home a lot earlier than I would from some of the long distance 7.30 tracks. I wish the track was a couple of hours nearer, then I would become a regular.

I remember one complait against the Brummies when we started back, this resident moaned that the noise was very loud on this wednesday night in question. This woman must of had super hearing as we were away at Kings lynn that night, daft cow.

In this case it might have been a good idea as she helped Bjerre put his shoulder back in, sounds like a lady who knows what she is doing. -

had an idea, with all the racing heritage that Belle Vue have over the years, 4 world champions, some of the greats ridden for you, why not open a museum on site, it could be open to the general public during the day even when there not racing and during the winter as well. Get one of those brown signs up and get it on the general tourist package as well, tourist information and all that, dont know too much about Manchester myself but I reckon it could work. If the council are backing it think of the people it would bring in. -

Sorry can I Just point out the nico covatti is argentian and only rides on an italian license, and birmingham have 5 former riders in the line up, Harris, Covatti, Carpenese, Doyle and Smolinski. What time does it start over here on the saturday and can you watch the fim-live feed? -

Ill look into that, fantastic I could watch out of the kitchen window, crowd would be a problem and the track would be kinda small I reckon I could get 20 in the garden, do a few sandwiches and keep the kettle on. Press box could be on the garage roof now or I have to do is have a word with solihull Council and get planning permission, European grand prix for 2016 will be in Solihull. Tickets will be a bit expensive due to the low capacity. Im not to far from Birmingham airport either. The bus and rail travel is close as well, theres a bus stop just up the road, right next job have a word with BSI. Ill keep you informed of the progress of this project. -
Im a bit jealous of those that are going, had a great time last season in Stockholm its a lovely city, its well worth a visit and I enjoyed the stadium as well.

You could go back to the old days and have the ELRC there as they did for many years at Hyde road, whats the chance of the European Grand prix coming to Britain. It seems a bit odd to me that an event called European GP is always in Poland, if its a european event shouldent it be spread about to other european countrys, this might generate some capital as a new Grand prix of this sort in different countrys generally gets a good crowd. -
Most Bizarre Exclusions......
P T Preece replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
dont know what year it was but Frank Ebdon excluded Hans nielsen for wheelieing over the line when he won the race. Remember at sheffiled when the Brummies were there 2008 or 09, a sheffield rider fell off going into the second bend and the ref excluded the Brummie rider who at least 15 feet in front of him even the sheffield supporters couldent understand why the ref exclude the brummies bloke, I just cant remember the refs name.
