  1. Phillips was an idiot, thinking you can make money out of speedway, its a rich mans hobby, theres just not enough rich men or women about.
  2. Still pouring down in Solihull, I feel there will have to be an early decision on this one. A lot of people travelling from a long way.
  3. that was an odd programme, straight into heat 5, funny ad breaks, female ref (that will get a few quips), Pedersen rubbish. Gollob hope he is alright bike hit his head, but a sad shadow of the rider he was. enjoyed the commentry, Dave Rowe one of the best, Nicholls in the pits seemed ok as well, Sam anybody got a gag. Some good races, but hard to watch on the tele, advertised as live but wasnt.
  4. WE have the same thing at my works, instant dismisale for drinks abd drugs. But I think everybody should wait and see what happens before we judge the young lad.
  5. I dont understand this just checked the TV and it now says its live at 8pm,help?
  6. I hope not a bit limited to my meetings at the moment, foot in plaster, looking to get to places in a wheel chair, really looking forward to this, its a meeting Ive been looking forward too since it was announced. Just looked at the weather and you could be right.
  7. Went to Peterborough back in the 80s when the brummies were there and they refused to ride, there was a problem on the third bend but the ref gave the go ahead to carry on. The Brummies riders and promoter didnt it like so they walked out, 75-0 was the score, very wierd experince watching 15 heats of just the home riders racing around. Feel for the travelling rye fans, never nice to see a walloping like that.
  8. I cant remember who it was, it was some time ago, but during one of the meeting when the stocks were on a bloke was shouting up to the stocks people and selling them programmes. We watched this from the back straight and thought it was a good idea it looked like he sold about 4 or 5 with people coming down the bank to pay for them. When the fixtures clash, would it be possible to ask the people running the stocks to sell some progs and perhaps stick a poster up at the entrance to the turnstiles advertising the speedway, it must be a good view from up there.
  9. Looking forward to this, have a few problems at the moment but if the weather is kind I will be there. I think £15 is very reasonable for 24 heats and all the lads giving it there all, hoping to see some good racing, seen a couple of good NL meeting lately. Come on down and support the young lads and some a lot older.
  10. Penhall intercontenental final, pulling wheelies at the back while his 3 fellow americans fought it out for a place in the world final, he would have won this event if he hadnt wanted to help out his buddys, never heard a rider booed so much in my life and that includes bad boy Pedersen.
  11. Enjoyed that, some good racing and the track rode well, well done to Carr on his max (well deserved best rider on show) and Atkin who let him get it, just like the old days. Saw Extance earlier in the season and couldent believe it was the same rider, well done. Devon were a bit of a mix and match Andrews, Johnston and Govier the stars for them, felt a bit sorry for Luke Whitehead drafted in at the last minute and got a point, admittaly there were only 3 riders in it, but as he only rides in the MDL I thought he did ok. Very windy, but sunshine and no rain despite the clouds that kept passing over, very enjoyable meeting run well. I dont understand speedway supporters any more a few years ago this place was packed, cars parked all round the track, its an enjoyable afternoon with none of the primadonnas from the EL all the riders put there heart into it and nearly all of them are of the same grade, despite the score the racing was close today. Well done buxton. Anubody know the last race time, couldent hear it as driving out at the time. Thanks.
  12. Ive watched quite a few sidecar events of the years, Reading, Coventry and Brimmingham to mention a few, hope I can get to this one at peterborough.
  13. Looks quite nice, have to get a bit more grass for the football pitch, should be a good one, SWC 2015 might give it ago.
  14. Sorry about simon no wonder he withdrew and you must be in the know pal, Im going on what they said over the PA. Dont comment on someones esles post when they dont have all the information, just telling the facts as I see them pal.
  15. I hope it is the Big Al I know, mans a comedy legend and a great bloke to talk too. If its you big man hope you and the missus are well.
  16. Saddened to here that, another of the good ones gone.RIP.
  17. Coming up for this one if the weather is kind to us. Should be a close meeting both teams being about equal. Like my trips to Buxton and missing the PL 4s as well. Come on rain stay away.
  18. Worried when I got there, started to rain just as I parked the car, sat for a while and about 20 minutes later the Ice cream van pulled up and then drove away, sat there expecting the worse. The rain stopped at about 6.55 and they opened the door at 7pm, track looked very wet and heavy. Started the meeting on the dot at 7.30pm, and then the fun began the weather had effected the track, turns 3&4 being very difficult but as usual these NL boys put there hearts and sole into and kept coming out. We had a couple of track grades trying to sort out the top turns which helped, Coventry rode the track better than the Stoke team Payne and shuttleworth not getting to grips with it very well, it was quite an entertianing meeting but not for the right reasons, there were a couple of good racing, but most of the time it was the riders getting themselves out of trouble that caused the excitement. Lambert locked up in heat 11 while he was chasing Sarjeant and thats what did his wrist. Enjoyed that really got on with because of the weather.
  19. Cheeky bugger, it did make me laugh though, that will stick in my head every time I put the colours on, I must remember to get some sweets as well. now what flavour do you think I should get.
  20. Im really getting into it now Deano, just been out and brought a dinner jacket and bow tie, just got to get the aston martin now.
  21. Quite enjoyed that, the aussies had some terrible luck, the Yanks looked ok but what are they going to do when the old bloke retires, apart from Nico Covatti the Italians were way out of it. Well done to the Brit lads, they all rode well and pulled it off, straight to the final, looking forward to the second round, not having to worry. Come on Team GB.
  22. I need to point out to you Stan, this was kept quite because we didnt want Phillips knowing we were coming and the less people who knew the better, as it was we had a Judas in our group because the copper told us so. The copper might have looked bored because it all went off without a problem, the Newspaper woman was called by the people who arranged it. No point doings something if nobody knows you have done it. The idea was to deliver a letter to Phillips asking him to set it right, but the bloke didnt care. We did have one result Phillips and his wife had a domestic in front of us, it sort of made the day.
