  1. Never gonna get the meeting finished then since there's only a 1 hour slot when it won't be raining!
  2. Thought it was only Cookie that rolled - according to the BSF Must be ok now that Bach and Klindt are riding.
  3. Appalling is a bit harsh. A steady first ride followed by an off in the thick stuff in his second. This resulted in a dislocated knuckle. So not surprised he pulled up in his third/final ride.
  4. But Barker is riding for Brum tonight.................. ..... you expecting him to come off again?
  5. Troll away or should it be trawl away. Don't think anyone claimed he is an EL number 1 - yet. But come next year when the tv money has gone he may well start the season as one.
  6. Think there are indeed a few posters who like to bang the drum about how wonderful the EL (still) is and how poor any other league must therefore be. I'm sorry but the EL ceased to be very elite when the top world stars stopped riding in it regularly. I will agree however that the naming structure of all the leagues is ridiculous. The Elite is now a long way from being elite. The Premier is certainly not the highest tier league. The National only has English teams in it as far as I am aware. But getting away from the semantics, the EL is now pretty much only a PL+ standard, with a handful of guys who are at a higher level e.g., Woffie, Ward and a few others. However, my post was actually to do with respect or the lack of it, shown by a few posters to the guy who is way ahead of the rest of the PL and has added 2 points to his EL average this season. I suggest you watch some of the many video clips of Cookie's races this season to see whether he is just a gating tart. I think you'll find he is more than capable coming from the back.
  7. Well from Barrow Boy's last published list...................... 01-Neils Kristian Iversen-King's Lynn 02-Kenneth Bjerre-Peterborough 03-Tai Woffinden-Wolverhampton 04-Darcy Ward-Poole 05-Greg Hancock-Poole 06-Peter Kildemand-Swindon 07-Freddie Lindgren-Wolverhampton 08-Matej Zagar-Belle Vue 09-Bjarne Pedersen-Eastbourne 10-Craig Cook-Belle Vue Only 3 others that could/should be considered. The jury seemed to have a majority decision that Bjerre wasn't the man for the job which leaves 2. Not sure whether Zagar or Pedersen would have been available or would have wanted the gig. And as pointed out in a previous post, "Craig Cook scored 3,3,0,3 for Belle Vue in the league match at Birmingham and 0,3,3,3,2 in an early season Challenge at Birmingham," So it seems a pretty simple no brainer decision was taken to go for Cookie. And as for the "no disrespect..." comments, you can't get much more disrespectful than that. But hey ho I would expect that from a few defenders of the "Elite"(really?) borefest. It seems to be - my club loses more money than your club so my club is better than yours. Hopefully next year will be the rude awakening when the Sky money has gone.
  8. Not sure it's any more of a programme filler than the last half a dozen home league matches but hey ho. Can't squeeze in another visit unfortunately - too late getting home.
  9. Don't think so. Too many Monarchs have gone off the boil and are very inconsistent Cookie's form has masked this for a while. Think Ippo are massive favourites for the group. But expect Somerzet to triumph overall.
  10. But he was replacing the higher scoring reserve. If it had been replacing the lower scoring one it would have had to be a NL guest. I'm not sure what point you are making?
  11. Doubt anyone expected Schramm to score 24+2 or whatever from 2 meetings though
  12. As a totally neutral observer I thought the racing was pretty grim to be honest. Precious little overtaking, if any, after the second bend. Didn't seem to be much tractor work being done on the track so I assume it just got more and more bare. Pretty drawn out affair too - obviously not helped by the number of fallers (13 if my count is correct). Fortunately a couple of them managed to clear the track and avoid more restarts. 9 fallers in the last 9 heats with only 2 of those heats not having fallers - track related at all? Thought Nielsen was looking good until he brought Lambert down in his 4th ride. Just seemed a rather impetuous move since it was only bend 3 on the 1st lap so still plenty of the race left to go. First sight of Lambert - I kind of thought from the PR that he might dominate the meeting but he was a distance away from doing that. Far too many races being won by quarter to half a lap though.
  13. With the organisation in speedway at the moment I think it's more a case of lucky if they are all completed in time. Given that we have had the best summer for weather in years, what would the fixture state be if it had rained like the past couple of years?
  14. I've lost the plot here. Edinburgh will not race Worky until after the cutoff date.
  15. It'll have to be a helluva good new rule given that Edinburgh aren't even riding tonight.
  16. You'll have to ask him that. Probably because he was half a lap ahead and wanted to save his engine!
