Steve got 8+1 and 10+1 from visits last season. The 8+1 included a retirement in H13 when he was leading the race (so that would have been a paid max). So really the only oppo rider to beat him over 4 laps at Birmingham was Tom Brennan. So I will stick with he is ahead of Batch!

No, they just better at keeping pace and even made some passes! Even TJ, Leon and Schlein did. TJ in H4 was miles behind and still caught up and passed a rider.
