Not necessarily. They just need to be on good form so it makes it hard to drop them from the team. Or do better than the other reserve (whoever that may be - so they get replaced instead). Although teams make changes during the season anyway so could get picked up by someone else if they are seen to perform well. Blobby seems to think it's Trigger but whoever it is, at least they have a heads up to what is happening so it is their choice knowing it prob not for a full season.
