  1. Is this statistically the worst Rye team ever. I know it's not on paper but maybe on the track. Bring back razz a and Trevor o' brien
  2. It pains me to say that I never thought we would have a team under Len as bad as we had under Ronnie Rogue but we have. I do think that the riders have to accept some of the blame as they have not always ridden as well as their ability suggests. I still think Stevie could be EL on the right equipment and unless he implodes JG should be an England international - if he could only take note of the fabulous example set by Tai. However there is no point in putting a team of racers on the track if you don't give them a team to match. At the moment the place is like pontins at camber sands in the 1970's when half the population are flying out to benidorm. I know they say be careful what you wish for but as a man who first started at Hackney in 1974 I'm afraid Len needs to hand over the reins before he is the last spectator watching. 3. We should call it the wizard of shadwell's last wave of his wand tour.
  4. Won't he want to maximise the value of the rights with a big hurrah shadders?
  5. I have to say EK rides with a zeal unmatched by any of his teammates. He's a definite to return. OG showing great quality and getting better with every ride. Next years number 7 for me. AM looking good despite missing half the season a definite For me. Pick any one of SB JB or Tyson nelson to be number 6. Expected much better from JG. Not sure what's up but seems to be going through the motions. Pains me to say that LB is looking more like Kent will be his destination with every passing week. If the four I've outlined are retained with a perhaps reinvigorated JG then that's the nucleus of a very good side.
  6. Not a great crowd but three meetings in a week for a team bottom of the table would challenge most fans. For us Eddie is a class above and Anders is slowly getting back to his best. Oliver greenwood is looking a real find. Those three should be nailed on for next season. Boxall still looks a class rider on a push bike and garrity at the moment looks the opposite. Luke has his. Moments but too rarely. Jason B an enigma. The whole heat 15 thing was horrible to watch and only happens to teams at the bottom.maybe his last meeting? Newcastle look so much better on paper than on a track. No one dominant yet no one out of their depths either.
  7. Actually quite an entertaining meeting in the end. Credit to the family from Redcar in front of the refs box. Good fun. We at last look like a team. Shame we could nt have started with this seven. Anders needs to gain match fitness but just his presence seems to ripple confidence. Eddie just class. Luke back to rye house form - a fitting tribute to his grandad. Steve seemed to switch bikes mid meeting and looked much faster. Can achieve anything on decent equipment. jG looking much more like his old self as does JB. Big welcome back to Oliver greenwood. He looked a great prospect when he guested at the end of last season and I was disappointed he was nt in the opening line up. Looks quality. Lawson is as classy as Eddie . Skid more great if he made the gate. Wilkinson you could watch racing himself - poor though going back for afters on the starting Marshall. Graver son very brave carrying on after a potentially nasty crash. Crowd every bit as good as a Saturday if not better.
  8. Whilst perhaps a tiny bit drawn out Lukes testimonial showed a much better slant on meeting preparation. Interviews free attractions former riders , riders mixing with the crowd. I hope that Len took it all in and these things become regular features. Well done to all involved btw.
  9. I hope not Oafski. Whatever we feel about the club at the moment if there is one rider who deserves a testimonial it's Luke. Very loyal, come back from quite horrendous injuries, always well prepared and always ready to promote the club. To be fair his lovely girlfriend/ wife deserves one too. She rushes from the bar every race to see how he gets on. She is a great credit to him. We are rushing back from Cardiff especially. Good luck Luke. Ps - Luke probably a good thing you did nt ask Chris to head your testimonial committee. Perhaps he could do a public sponsored hanging . . .
  10. God where to start! You are so right shadders. More and more loyal hardcore fans are calling it a day and you just can't see a way forward whilst Len stays in charge. Is it four years now since we had a competitive team. Even if he does make changes now the competitive season is effectively over. Well done Len. And as for the riders . . . The thing that hurts us fans is the apparent lack of pride in their performance. Part of that is the poor construction of the team which requires most to punch above their weight which in turn affects their confidence when they score badly but still. . . . Awful awful awful from each and everyone and as for Tress who signed a rider who will miss half your home matches and can only be replaced by a NL reserve. Some of the riders at least must read this forum. Please come on and explain to us fans.
  11. West ham boy I'm not saying he is an idiot and I appreciate it's his money and he can spend it how he likes. What I think a lot of us are saying is that it is perhaps five seasons (?) since we had a seriously competitive team. Add to that the sometimes over slick track beer in cans rather than draught the fish and chips the tired presentation and you are testing most fans patience.
  12. Is that in the same way he was a fish and chip taster for Harry Ramsdens? I know we joke about these things but it so sad to watch the decline. Each week another long familiar face is missing. If he does nt get a team together to challenge for honours next season I hate to think what crowd levels will be like.
  13. Where to start. Glasgow were pretty awful bar Thomsen and the two reserves . Lykke showed all the best of the potential he had shown at Rye. A real have a go merchant . Well done son. Palm - toft. Don't forget the fuel taps is right about how the averages are treated. Ridiculous how a rider with a 4.83 EL average can guest for a PL reserve with a 5 average. For Rye bandits4eva is right. The heart is going out of the place. Eddie Steve and Jason G are riding well. JB did well tonight but it's quite clear the team is nt right and more importantly for the riders the track isn't. We have a team who want to race on a track as slick as a car park. Sadly Len seems oblivious to it all. Very sad indeed
  14. We have a weak enough team anyway but the one thing five of those riders like is a bit of dirt and a bit if grip. So what do they have a landing strip with a blue groove around the inside after about 8 heats. Sensible!!!!
  15. Maybe city rebel but that sadly does nt mean we have to be. As I said above I have been going to hackney since 74 and rye not much later and this is the most I have been disillusioned which bearing in mind some of the other rubbish to which we have been subject says something. Poorly prepared gutless spineless and completely out ridden.
  16. It's like when frank Sinatra did his last concerts - the guy had been a legend but you could nt wait for it too end. Time for Len to put a proper team together or go. Hate to say it as I've been going since 1974. It's back to the Ronnie Russell days or worse.
  17. Gutless spineless voting with my feet . Will the last fan leaving the stadium please turn off the light and check the chip fryer is off.
  18. I'm in putney at the moment and it's absolutely hissing down such that I put my arm bands and flippers on just to go get a paper. If this hits rye it will definitely be off
  19. We may not be a glamorous club but I suspect we are one respected by our riders. I like the look of this team. Hopefully by tans rib is now fixed. Very solid and exciting 1-7 Bunyan - bloody I phone!
  20. Blimey looking at that it makes you realise there might be at least two more guys who really need to pick their act up.
  21. Ignoring rolling averages does anyone know what the riders averages are just for this season x
  22. Excited by this. Looks a good aggressive trier with a very good pedigree. With Steve boxall Eddie and Jason as a good heat leader trio and always strong at reserve we might have just got it right in time for the league season.
  23. Agree entirely. To be fair to him it's not a lack of effort but that's not the point . The other thing Len has to remember is that if Lamberts confidence goes altogether it won't help the Kent kings either. It's a bit like when a boxing trainer throws in his towel to stop his boxer taking any more punishment . Len should throw the towel in .
