There is one real shame about this discussion on prices however valid it may be, and that is it overshadows what looks like being a great season for the Hawks.
This is a really exciting line up with some great and exciting young talent.
The progress these kids make from raw novice to hopefully PL or EL rider has always been one of the greatest pleasures I get from speedway. So for me I will be there whenever I can.
The only shame is losing Joe Jacobs who I think might be in for a great season.
And despite what ever is said when two NL teams are evenly matched the racing can be second to none.
So come on lets try to get behind these kids. The Hawks of today are hopefully the Rockets of tomorrow.
To be honest Roger I think it could be a big year for all of the kids. Marc does need an injury free run. He took too many knocks last year but when he was injury free he flew. Ben is another. His progress is remarkable. I think i'm right in saying that hes only been riding aspeedway for two and a bit years. I think Shane is a dark horse. I think he had equipment issues last season but has tons of potential. Brandon I dont know anything about but the comments about him seem very positive. I dont know very much about Hopwood either but neither Len or Cook are mugs and they must have seen something they like.
I like Danny but I still think David Mason is a very useful guy to have around. I think he had an injury or illness for much of last year but when he was fit he scored plenty of handy points and has a lot of experience at this level to pass onto what is a pretty inexperienced team.
To be fair to David Mason he had some pretty horible knocks last year. I think he'll be a good old head amongst the kids. A very entertaining line up.
It is a shame for Lee. Would nt be surprised to seem him at the IOW either. A track he clearly excels at.
So we have Ben Hopwood and possibly Barrie Evans subject to sponsorship.
The Lakeside website have confirmed Marc Owen, shane and Young Freemantle. Waco hopefully you can confirm Ben.
That leaves just one more. Any offers.
Dont know much about Hopwood to be honest but a cracking line up with the others.
A very good rider at this level.
Any other surprises? George Barclay at number 7?
I really do welcome these changes but hope we still have shane ben marc and Joe - although I suspect the latter will now be heading Mildenhall way.
As you know Waco I'm a big fan of Bens. I'm just astonished that is his finishing average.
I personally think that if he can cure his rolling start Ben could have a terrific season. He has come so far so quickly. And having seen you in action I know you'll keep his feet on the ground !!!!
I have to say that Tommy would be a great shout at this level. It might help him get back some form and confidence whilst being a old head for what is a vey young but talented team. I have to say with this blend I am almost more excited about the Cobras than the Rockets.
If speedway is the sport it should be then owen, morley, jacobs and shane should be all PL riders by 2012. If not the rules need to be changed whereby there should be a new bias to introduce them - say an average of 1 point if a rider is under 18 or has less than two years affiliated experience and is british.
Maybe he actually just wants hungry young kids to fill the lower team spots?
We have a good core with Owen Morley Hazelden Jacobs and Mason.

Waco I know how dedicated you are from yr posts on the Rye forum. Is it yr son who rides? It would be really revealing if you could give an insight into the costs etc involved and how much promotions get involved in training etc.
