Swindon should have the class and quality to win this on aggregate. If we don’t it would be a massive choke (unless injuries play a part). That does mean the Witches have zero pressure on them at all though, so can just ride freely and see what happens. They have a few battlers that can score anything between 2 or 12 from night to night, so it just depends on whether the stars align for them. The playoffs can bring the best out of riders like King and Harris, especially if the track is to their liking. Im expecting another heavy, grippy track on Monday, that they’ll love, and Swindon will need to be mentally prepared for. If Ippo can get themselves an 8 point lead to take back to Blunsdon, it’ll be squeaky bum time for Swindon on Thursday. I’m kind of hoping that there is a bit of jeopardy for Thursday, as the match against Wolves had none of that play-off spark at all.

I was expecting Swindon to make it through to the final tonight, but wasn’t expecting Wolves to make it so easy for us. Shocking display from a very good team. The track was very good considering the amount of rain we’ve had recently, especially yesterday evening. Unfortunately Wolves didn’t fancy making a fight of it so we didn’t see much actual racing on it. Passing was hard work because it was particularly slick, but not surprising considering the circumstances. Well done to the track team. Swindon should really go on to win the final now. Anything else would be a massive choke/freak result. But Ipswich will put up a good fight I’m sure. If they can get an 8 point advantage from the first leg, it will make things very interesting for the 2nd leg. Hopefully it will be more competitive than tonight and at least create some atmosphere at the stadium. Lack of competition tonight made things very flat indeed. Vissing making the usual suspects look like muppets again tonight. Keep it up lad. Just wish Perks could make a gate every now and then, got plenty of pace, but last out the start each time. Great work from the boys over the last two nights. Hilarious thinking about all the panic mid way through the meeting at Poole on the TV earlier in the year, when we had a bit of a mid meeting slump and everyone was saying we don’t stand a chance of even making the Play-Offs with such a long tail, which we then came back to lose by just 2 points on the night. We’ve gone from strength to strength since. Just shows that people should have a little faith.

Well done to the robins tonight. 10 pt lead to take home is probably 16-18 more than we might have expected normally, so we should be delighted. However, if the track is in similar condition tomorrow, there’s a massive danger that something similar could happen tomorrow (although it’s hard to see It happening quite to the same extent). We’ve had a lot of rain down here in Swindon tonight, on top of an already very wet track. So we’ll need to be ultra professional tomorrow night. Not sure why the track staff didn’t take the time to blade off the worse of the heavy stuff that had built up on the outside of the track. Just left there, it essentially made the track half the width it usually is, with anything further that mid-track out unrideable. At least if there was less material there it would have made it more useable. Very easy to say sat here at home though, admittedly.

Hard luck on Wolves tonight. Really the meeting shouldn’t have gone ahead at all, but needs must at times. Unfortunately the wolves fans that have turned up have forked out for a night of awful racing and a home defeat. The weather has ruined what should have been a great couple of meetings. I was planning on going up on Monday until it was rained off, but couldn’t make it tonight. Largely I’m glad though looking at the state of the racing and that bloody toe curling track presenter. Well done to the Robins fans that have made the journey up there.

Some hilarious speedway fan logic here. Were some of you lot in the same class as Batchelor at school? both Swindon riders gate and are clear on a 5-1 in the 1st bend. The wolves riders get themselves into trouble riding the same bit of track and cause the stoppage. Why should both come back in for a 2nd go??! Otherwise that just opens the floodgates for team mates to start knocking each other off every time they’re clearly beaten to the first turn. Have a think people.
