  1. http://www.pragueexperience.com/accommodation/hotels.asp try this website as it has everything you want like bars and hotels. transport from and to the airport can be arranged from the site. we have used it on many occasions and they are very reliable. if there are 3 or 4 of you a taxi is a good choice to the stadium as it takes about 15 minutes from the centre. taxis wait outside on way back prague is full of bars with the real cheap beers off the main squares. there are some english bars to get home food. prague is a lovely city but the racing could be better. sometimes no dirt and boring racing tickets via website you get a good view from everywhere in the stadium, pits are on bend 3 / 4. It is rowdy on bend 1 and 2 because our polish firends get full of beer and many have no manners so just push past
  2. Great move to start early. I can get home now and no need to book an expensive / over priced / rip off hotel room.
  3. I don't bet as a rule but £5 on Hans at 10-1 looks Ok.
  4. Can anyone help a little bit more please ? The costs of flights & hotels are easy to find. But before we book it would be good to know what the cost of living is like in Poland for food, taxi's and beer. It is cheap or do we get a tourist shock How do you get from town to the stadium. Is it easy enough by public transport. Lastly the speedway. Are the cheap tickets Ok and do you get your own seat ? Any views on where to buy a seat ? thanks a lot
  5. What is Bydoszcz like as a town for a couple of nights. Hotels, bars, food ? Any help would be useful Thank you.
  6. It looks like next years GP's will be far stronger than this year with no Dribble, Bjarne, Kasperjak, PUK or maybe Lindgren. Replace 3 of those with Sajfutdinov, Holder, Hampel and it looks a really tough riding GP field. It could be a superb season with some hard and exciting riding. Lindgren only had one decent result with 22pts but the rest of his results was awful. Very similar to Bomber last season. I think Scotty should get a Wild casrd as he's next man down in 9th. He also looked far more on the pace after mid season, some of his riding was superb to watch. Totally fearless stuff. Bomber should be out I'm afraid. He's had one good GP in two seasons and isn't doing enough. He is a racer but most tracks are too slick for him, so that is a shame.
  7. A group of 6 want to go to Bydgoszcz next year for the GP but need some help. We wondered where the are best places to stay in town, how far is the track from town, is it a friendly place, is it expensive in Poland for food and hotel and drinks, where do the English stand in the stadium. Can anyone help with some past knowledge please.
  8. In the GP I want the best 16 riders in the world. Scott is within that bunch and whilst the Top 6 seem to be set in stone we need other riders to give us some entertainment. Scott is all action, never gives an inch, and looked on the pace in the last 3 GP's. I reckon he'll do quite well next year if given a chance. Maybe lose a stone & get his starting boots on ! After the 8 qualifiers ..if you list the next 8 in the world he has to be in that group
  9. Good GP. Nikki P - correctly excluded in his race with Crump & made himself look stupid with sour grape comments in his interview. Calling Crump lucky was cobblers. The pressure is getting to him but he'll still win the championship. Dryml - shocking stuff during the race with Scott Nicholls, pure dangerous riding. Plonker Nicholls - brilliant & fearless ride to beat Dryml, even better when he squared up. Maybe not such a good image for the sport but he could have been badly injured, so who can blame him. Crump - bad luck for him as he ode superbly, suitably miserable afterwards. Hans - great result for him Gollop - Boo Hoo !! Good reffing to stand firm with his decison to exclude Hope they put some dirt on the track in Germany as it could be a belter.
  10. I would recommend Goldfingers !! It's just off the Square, in a big hotel on one corner.
  11. Due to unforseen circumstancies ( a mate has had a family berevement ) I've 2 tickets for the Prague GP going spare. For the standing area on Bend 2 / back straight. There are worth 680 CZK, which is about £18. Please correct me if that is wrong calculation. If somebody wishes to buy them off me, for £15 each, they can be popped in the post at anytime. Thanks, Mark
  12. I'll have a guess.........no rider until 6pts behind, then they can use a tactical sub. That's probably rubbish but it's a stab in the dark
  13. Is it true that Scotty & Bomber don't get on ? Shame if so.
  14. Just back from Coventry, what a masive disappointment. TRACK - seemed too slick, virtually no passing. It was poor racing most of the time, whoever gated won most of the heats. One good race between Rymel & Hans. PROGRAM - £5 rip off job. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to buy a £1 scorecard, particulary for those with kids. When you have paid £30+ to get in it's just a bit OTT TEAM - we were truly shocking on what was a home track for all the riders Nicholls - back from a seperated shoulder ( is that a dislocation?) so may have been feeling that but looked to miss just about every gate. No dirt for a known racer. Bomber - hardly make a gate & with no dirt he was off form. BIke looked to be oozing smoke on 4th ride, packed up the next Richardson - seem to lack speed Stead - oh dear, why was he there in the first place ? At this level you win ziltch by locking up on every corner Allen - did well in the main, battled hard GRUB - pretty darn good & good value START LINE GIRLS - my fav was wearing Blue.
  15. I hope Stead does well but he's not my pick. I'd have gone with Kennett or Tia at Coventry. Probably the latter would be my pick if he's going to try him in Vojens. It gives him a chance to find his feet agaianst Nikki & Hans when they are at full power. Stead is lucky this round is at Coventry, he'd have no chance of a place otherwise. Olly Allen will be a trump card, he's going to do very well.
  16. Yeah no problem. Newport is good fun & far cheaper than Cardiff for hotels. Trains Ok.
  17. Some good points made here but can I come back with a counter arguement I attended the Parken GP. 1. Drunks were dropping pints of lager from the top tier on to the bottom tier spectators. Despite repeated requests to the security absolutely zitch was done. At £4 a pint, that's madness. 2. I sat behind 4 swedish people, a family group who were kitted out in Swedish gear & with flags. A Danish guy, sitting directly in front of the family, turned around midway through the evening & threatened the teenage girl. He had clearly had one too many but to threaten an 18yo, to promise to break her flag in half if she waved it again, was bloody awful to witness. The point I'm making is that a few beers, a bit of patroitism, the pantomine villian in Nikki P, can cause a reaction. If he was a footballer he'd get far worse each week playing away from home. Please see my other comments on another thread, I thought Nikki P was harshly treated but he's not been blameless in the past in GP's having knocked off Greg Hancock etc. Hans is a super lad & top rider but he's been a pillock as well on occasions. Get over it.
  18. Good idea. I can see no reason why the offending rider can't start on Gate 4 even if he was, originally, in another gate. he'll be 15m behind so there shouldn't be a problem. Ultimately I want GP riders in each heat, not a meeting resreve who may gift points to the other 3 riders in any particular heat. Yes seeing Tai would have been good but only if someone is ruled out through injury.
  19. Enjoyed the music, some really good stuff that added to the night. Didn't agree with Ivor Biggin because of all the kids, even if it did make me laugh. Also didn't agree with the reason the song was used, all riders deserve the total respect of those doing the presentation.
  20. Nikki P did nothing wrong. The ref made a couple of crap calls, that's not the riders fault. He should be congratulated for getting his bike off the track quickly in the final. If my memory is right he's done that before in a GP, maybe a semi or another final. He would be the first to agree he was a bit wayward as a younger guy but now he's hard but fair rider.
  21. Thinking about going to this one. Can anyone offer any travel advice to Bydg, to the track or advice on the city. Thanks
  22. Went to Cardiff, a great night, super presentation. CRUMP - brilliant PEDERSEN - couldn't understand why he was getting booed, he didn't exclude the other riders in his favour. He deserves credit for getting up after his smash in the final, that was a nasty crash. He had a poor night but still got to the final. NICHOLLS - super stuff but blew the final, a right shame that. Gave it 100% ANDERSEN - looked fast ( exciting in heat 4 when over cooked it ) but had some bad luck when Lingren stayed down thus losing points & subsequent gate choices. BOMBER - battered & bruised but still kept going, great effort REF - awful performance & ruined the night with some dreadful calls
