  1. If there is a short term fix it doesn't help for the long term of Coventry bees. I imagine this mess will be back if not front page news of the telegraph and the speedway star going to press will have its say. How now can the two parties work together towards a new stadium or who would want them to work together? The council must be shaking there head, the new land owners must have wished they had just shut the place. How can Horton go and lease Sandhu's stadium if ever suitable land was found ?? Imagine the terms !!! if finding a new home was hard before this week, I think it's become near impossible now.
  2. It's a team full of potential to improve. Danny King year on year gets better, Garrity couldn't ride with KK and if he stays injury free will improve, with King, bates and Garrity we have out and out racers and in bjerre a gating tart who should be on the pace with most of the top riders. The reserves look decent and the race format this year will not leave them so protected. when you see some of the names mentioned for reserves we have done ok, there will be some where they will be wobbling around at the back getting last places.
  3. When all this about the rent a few weeks back came about, I'm sure I read horton and Sandhu had met and had an agreement. I don't for one moment think they were talking fryers and fridges. Would an agreement not have been put in place in writing with terms and conditions and when Horton was talking with Brandon estates he would have known what he was getting for his money?
  4. So if they rent else where, other promotions could obviously rent Coventry?
  5. but if there is a facility but they don't promote then what happens? I'm sure the stock car community wouldn't be impressed.
  6. Be interesting to see what is said on this one, we love a statement on the website . I think looking at that we have not heard a word from Sandhu since the lease agreement maybe he isn't best pleased. However it may be all doom and gloom but it doesn't mean bulldozers are going in, in fact maybe Brandon estates may come up with a plan to help, or Mick finds help someway. I don't know who is in the market for floodlights these days but if Sandhu wants his legacy to be this then so be it. Many tracks run with outside catering and bar facilities. One question I do have is that who owns the promotion rights to the stox as if it is pulled out then what is stopping another promotion running such events? Maybe the stadium was sold as unfurnished.... I'm sure they wont take the stinky toilets with them..
  7. Pennies compared to what it was sold for but the stock cars must bring in a lot of income, more than speedway you see whole families there and I was surprised at how many had merchandised tops/coats. What ever they do I must say it's run so well and worth the money. Who knows what's going on if its maintenance or what, can't see what value they have and what's the point in taking them down for them to be replaced for 1-3 years? Who is going to want to buy floodlights.. or unless they go into storage for the new venue ..can't see it working at present if it is true what's going on as the ball goes back on the other foot if sandhu and it's a big if he finds a site. When the stadium was sold maybe sandhu had it in place for the equipment etc to go with him at the end of the season as it was to be demolished. It would make sense to the common man for something to be put in place to either sell the equipment on to Horton or to Brandon estates. If Brandon estates are sponsoring the bees then if they are messed about will they necessarily want/need the stock cars?
  8. I think most fans will have 2 teams to follow. Bees and Rye House (bees b team)
  9. Bjerre !! Never been a fan but at least Danny is back.
  10. From a sentimental point of view I like the look of the Rye House team, they maybe getting on in years but all named are in there say good racers and the teams being mentioned don't raise my hopes. I will for sure be going to Wolverhampton next season when Rye are there and based on who we sign if that means missing a meeting or 2 at Brandon then so be it. That team would have been very popular with many fans.
  11. I want to see entertaining meetings, winning is great but I'm sorry the likes of bjerre just don't fit the kind of team I want to see at Brandon. It would be nice sooner rather than later to hear from Coventry or even Danny about these rumours, has he moved or not? Danny is it at his peak, he reminds me a lot of Nicholls in his style of riding. He is a must have signing, make him captain and he can be the main man this season, he out rode Bomber last season at Brandon. We have a decent enough asset base and I am sorry but Garrity gives you just over half a season before he is knocked up and his poor start to the season can not be repeated. Even at this stage of his career and limited options maybe Gemini is right and Scott Nicholls would be a rider guaranteed to give 100% and can ride most away tracks well. Feel for Holder as it looks like he has limited options and Doyle takes a huge chunk out of Swindon, the promotors agreed it but some of the teams suggested look at best glorified PL teams. Should have been 55/60points and we could have had more strength in depth. it's done nothing to make you want the season to start tomorrow, more dread of who the hell will we end up with. More fans will be lost to the sport, I went to the stox at Brandon for the first time in over 20 years on Saturday, was a pleasure to see it so full. A brilliant fire work display and even Nigel Harrhy throwing sweets into the crowd, it was like a throw back to some fantastic final meetings at Coventry. How two sports can be so similar but also worlds apart, but you can see with the crowd I witnessed on Saturday stox are so popular. I'd say there was more in Brandon Saturday night than half a season of speedway give or take.
  12. Be interesting to see who shows the hand first, more than ever this year you have to get every spot right or it has a knock on effect. You think you have a deal and it falls through you then look for another rider around the same points but he may not suit the team/fans. My worst nightmare is if Bjerre or Batch sign up, Rory would be a popular choice still as it's his confidence that needs to come back, the ability is there.
  13. Good news about next season but looks like the owners want something in return in regards to building on the land for us to get a further two seasons. I don't think season tickets were handled fairly for the storm at the end however I would love to have seen the reaction if Mick Horton had done a Leicester or Belle Vue then the forum would have been in meltdown so on the day one promotion have been shown up for huge failings another no matter what anybody says has done a great job in securing the bees having a home in 2017.
  14. So out of interest, this years team with KK, Garrity, King, Bates and Harris? Did they not entertain? Are these all inside line and tootle along riders? No. inconsistent yes but how that is anybody's fault rather than the rider is beyond me when they are paid on performance. Off track there have been wobbles but reading this if I was Horton I wouldn't have bothered to fight to keep speedway at Coventry as nothing is good enough anyway. Had Sandhu come up with the same deal the comments would have been very different.
  15. Not Mick's biggest fan, too many mistakes of his own doing that frustrate bees fans, however if it was not for this man we would most probably be here thinking and talking about the last meeting at Brandon and maybe for a short period the Coventry bees so maybe a little respect should be shown. Haverlock spent too much time concentrating on Kelvin Tatum than the bees I think, another manager will come in, be great to see somebody with a link to the club and help with the fight for a new stadium.
  16. Such a shame for belle vue, I agree that a trophy/shield for topping the table should be introduced. Although no rules were broken I do think it must be hard to take for belle vue, old fashioned in that the table toppers are champions in my view. Bringing in a world champion as a second string was genius but not on the rider they dumped. Great meeting though and much better racing than Monday.. This always means one thing though after the play off final....... Winter
  17. I think Scott will end up at lakeside, one more season at this level and maybe if the rules apply double up.
  18. I fully expect Lindgren to be pushing the belle vue riders hard towards the fence, he can be quite ruthless at times. Expect it close but fully behind Nicholls and the Aces for this. Same 1-7 all season, very close to call though.
  19. And that took 10 hours to come up with that ??? What a joke !! So the people who have the capital to fund the new stadium have fell out with the speedway promotion. What is it with Coventry and stadiums !!!!
  20. It certainly doesn't sound too good and again more off track problems. If there was an issue then the poor chaps who wanted a spin this morning should have been given warning, its not like somebody woke up this morning and said I know what we will do today?? Also no word from the stock car side of the business on the whole stadium salvage but interesting to see the councillor at the world final? The bigger picture is we were told by Sandhu he will help the bees and stox to find a new home, the relationship must have hit a snag for it to come to this today. We await further news from either camp, although I find it unfair on the supporters and people earlier who were let down to be kept in the dark, hours pass, rumors get bigger and it could be easily stopped by a simple explanation and some honesty.
  21. 2016 has been more about off track issues than on track, securing the stadium for another 1-3 years is fantastic however the work on life after Brandon is still as important as ever. The promotion what ever people's opinion must be praised as the meeting on Friday would have been the bees last official meeting. Mistakes have been made, not the only promotion but I think Mick at times gets a rough ride based on past events and not helped by ex riders making comments on Twitter then it's gone. Twitter used in the correct way is brilliant for speedway riders to connect with fans, spoilt by fans being absolute morons by posting abbusive messages and then riders and sad to say even management hitting back. Not professional and becoming increasingly more evident. For 2017 I think a new team manager would help, Gary has had his ups and downs over his seasons at Coventry but a fresh face in the pits and somebody bees fans can relate to. The promotion maybe in an ideal world could have a supporters representive to liaise with.(can think of an ideal candidate, she is quite vocal on the first bend) The end of season issues highlight when plans are mentioned and do not materialise it frustrates fans who pay through thick and thin, Friday's team was a skeleton of our original team with a number 1 not mentioned on the official club website? We knew we were limited but sometimes the communication is just not there? With Twitter and other social media available we are surly missing a trick? Have a snapchat account, a focus on what goes into a race day at Brandon...?? Q&A with a rider, competitions for kids to watch a race from the centre ?? Just a few examples of what maybe could be used as kids love speedway, they are all into social media.. It's free !! The riders coming out after by the first bend is a great move, the pics you see on our Facebook page are great and what a lasting impression for a young or old supporter to have your picture with your favourite rider. As I said earlier, mick could of easily walked away from this and we would have no Coventry Speedway in 2017 at Brandon it's as simple as that. He gets very little credit and takes a lot flack, some justified but supporters must be blinkered if they think Mick is the worst promotor in the sport and rider x,y and z don't want to ride for him. I think he stubborn in the fact if we had the old presentation team that would freshen it up, Chris would be perfect at interacting with the crowd. Let's hope lessons from 2016 are looked at, reviewed and we can look at a new era in 2017.... You know how speedway is, bomber may well be back in 2018.
  22. It must up the M6 to wolves for bomber on a perfect average for any team, I doubt very much unless you had been given a firm offer would you hand in a request. Lakeside and belle vue not his greatest, Swindon maybe but I fancy his holiday double header sealed the deal. I had a feeling maybe Scott Nicholls may have headed that way but maybe lakeside for him or even back for another stint with us? Joonas Kylmakorpi maybe on his way back to us? It must have been a hard choice to make for Chris, he is well thought of by Bees fans and maybe he wants to go while he is still going ok, not the season he wanted and Danny King has become the rider to blast round the boards and also gates well,I just hope that Danny is in the plans for 2017 as I doubt KK will be back and options are limited. If only AJ would come back, to see him him would be brilliant. Could be an interesting winter..
  23. Typical end of season performance from us, fair play to Danny and Bomber. Like a few other I await to see why the team manager wasn't there, too busy on his usual crusade at having cheap shots at Kelvin Tatum. It's a continued one sided argument with Tatum I doubt really giving a monkey what Gary thinks. A few have one meeting left in bees colours and I hope we have a new team manager to lead us into 2017 and leave the current boss more time to concentrate on poole's meetings.
